Yeah maybe we can deregulate some more and this time they can finish what they started with Bush. Great fucking idea.

Yes, Republicans have had an uphill battle regulating huge financial institutions...

And, Hayek is an awesome babe, no matter what her politics are, sheesh. Point is, I appreciate real women, with some meat on their bones, not emaciated fake blonds and such.

Some of my best friends, and even my parents are Democrats, though not of the "World owes me a living" ilk. Obama's a nice enough guy, and I like him more than Hillary, but I certainly don't agree with him on the most important issues. I'd vote for used Dixie cup over Obama this fall. It wouldn't do as much damage by steering us toward a Socialist European fate!

Far-right and far-left are both wrong, but the affirmation it's true in some way.

Nonetheless, maniqueism doesn't work at all.

How many years have you lived in Europe?

Hah, Rudeguy, Kranky, Dennis, UberNeuman, & Corn, good people!

Looks like P&N is the place to be now. Topics in ATOT seem pretty lame these days. Poking around here at a few posts leads me to believe it's about 50/50 conservative VS liberal. That's unusual, but refreshing.

So, who around here voted for Obama three years ago, but won't in 2012? Hey, don't be embarrassed to admit it, I once voted for Ross Perot!

(Where's the emoticon list?)

I stay out of there. They whole place is about arguing. I get enough of that IRL

Haven't lived in europe, nor had Salma Hayek, but one is FAR preferable to the other!

Just never developed my sense of entitlement I guess. Should I? Maybe get prepaired for the new Obama world, where half our citizens pay for the other half to sit on their entitled asses all day...

Let's see if you're still singing that tune when a hundred thousand Salma Hayeks climb over that border fence and move into your town. I've started a list of crimes that are sure to spike:

A) Unlawful surveillance ("Peeping Tom" laws)
B) Careless driving (traffic accidents due to rubbernecking)
C) Adultery (it's on the books in a few states still AFAIK)
D) That law that disallows people from putting their cars up on blocks in their front yard

If they really plan ahead, the Hayek horde will get involved in law enforcement to create a virtuous loop of profiting off of hapless, gawking Americans.

lol Seriously? Bush deregulates, the economy folds, and McCain is sitting there saying I told you so...? Wow ole John must have really been out of the loop or I smell bullshit. They all knew this was happening as soon as, maybe even before, Bush deregulated. Paulson knew for months it was coming but, as usual, plausable deniability and all that.

Bush didn't deregulate anything, he took away some regulations only to put in much more. As well they subsidized the risk for the banks which encouraged them to make more loans

Sometimes politics just drives me insane. Can't imagine why everybody doesn't feel the way I do. Even my dad is firmly in the Dem camp, probably because he's a retired teacher. When I point out all the issues he's at odds with Obama & company, he just says, "They're all the same, they all lie etc." :| (found the emoticon list)

Guess the subject of cars isn't much different. Can't understand why anybody would prefer a hyper econobox to a comfortable cruiser with some grunt. Now Ford's dropped the Panther platform... damn! And, as the American cars become smaller FWD clones, Korea starts cranking out bigger RWD V8 offerings.

SilthDraeth, you like that police car, eh? I haven't owned anything but Panther based cars for the last 25 years, and never owned a new one, or ever had a car payment. I repair my own cars as much as possible, and these cars are the cheapest and easiest to work on. I'd just as soon own a nice pickup truck, but I can buy a couple Grand Marquis' for the cost of the same vintage truck. I drive them till the wheels are square, so resale value doesn't matter to me.

I see there's a Garage Forum to discuss this stuff, but I don't see the point in that. I like what I like, and Ford has made their decision. Kids today will never know what a roomy car feels like and the newer Crown Vics aren't roomy, especially the back seat...
