Hey - don't diss Seattle, PA - it's the home of the worlds largest Amish technology museum.

Pike Place Market is cool, if you get to see them throw some fish around... The Library is neat... There's always the Sci-Fi Museum......

Oh the twelve egg omelet. Eat that thing and you have a heart attack right there on the spot.

Museum of Flight is pretty cool for geeks, tons of WWI, WWII planes plus older and newer stuff. Flight simulator, a space area with a couple of cool video games (lunar lander thing). Get to walk through a Concorde and the Old Air Force 1 (President Kennedy). Make sure you walk all around, some stuff is kind of hidden.

Grab some fish and chips at Sunfish on Alki, check to see if they're open - they shut down for part of the winter.

Aside from all the specific attractions, I would suggest setting aside one day and one night to just walk/drive around...it's a beautiful city and the surrounding areas are all really nice too. Drive up to Queen Anne, gorgeous old houses ($$$) and there's a little park that overlooks the city and the bay. Great for photos and there's a pay-telescope.

Here's my opinion:

Qwest Field and Safeco Field - who cares, they're football/baseball stadiums.

Pike's Place - a bunch of crappy shops with some people throwing overpriced fish.

Museum of Flight - huge rip off. Not even in the same category as other museums that are free (like the USAF museum in Dayton). I'm an aerospace engineer and pretty passionate about airplanes, and the Museum of Flight sucks (and the old Air Force One they have is not the one Kennedy's body was on).

Green Lake - it's just a small, overcrowded lake.

Space needle - actually not too bad. It'll give you a nice view of the area, but in the winter it'll be overcast and you probably won't see much.

I've never been to the EMP, but I do want to check out the sci-fi museum.

Library - I thought it was interesting, but would only take a couple hours of your time at most.

The best part of Seattle is what's around it - the Cascades mountains, Olympic mountains, Olympic coast, and Puget Sound. Unfortunately winter is a really bad time to see the mountains (unless you want to get killed in an avalanche). You can still look around the Sound. A trip to the coast still might work if you have time (I believe it's the least developed coast in the continental US, but I could be wrong). A drive through Whidbey island would be interesting.

I would just drive around all the different parts of the city and its suburbs. It might also be fun to hop on a ferry to somewhere.

Just my opinion though

If you're there for a whole week, you should really take a road trip out to Mt St Helen's and Olympic National Park as well.... Maybe Mt Rainier, too.

I was bummed with the Sci Fi museum, though... they don't let you sit in Captain Kirk's chair! They let me sit in it when it was on loan at the Smithsonian, though

Yeah, Rainier and Olympic NP are awesome, but the mountainous areas aren't very easy to visit in the winter...

He's asking for things to do in Seattle, not Dayton. I'm an aerospace engineer also but I can't say I've been to any other museums of this type. I thought the amount and varierty of airplanes was pretty good as well as the information provided on the placards and multimedia. There's everything from a replica of the Wright Brothers flyer up to an SR-71 with seperate big rooms for WWI and WWII planes and another for space stuff. Don't know how this could be a rip off, gotta have money to run the place.
