Ouch.

It is temporarily unavailable now, guess it was a pricing error. Hopefully you get the rest of it, I havent received mine yet, I wonder if they canceled it...

That's kind of expensive for just the spout...

And sophisticatedhome.com is not a discount/warehouse outlet.

btw - Here's what the H770 in the title is supposed to look like: click here or straight from In-Sink-erator's website here

They either made a mistake with the model or price, or they got a heck of a deal. That's well below wholesale.

Crap
? 1/2 gallon capacity delivers 60 cups/hour of near-boiling water

Doesn't sound like it's just a spout to me.

It's also not an H770... not if it looks anything like the one in the picture in the link in the OP. Just to confirm, I went and looked - the H770 does indeed look like this one. And at retail should be 3 to 4 times what the OP price was. Though the OP price was too high for just the spout as well. Well for a polished brass one anyway - if it was gold tone it could be higher. So I'm really not sure how Home Depot messed this one up.

I am sure it was a price mistake. I was searching for one and found that one on their site. If they do honor it I will be pleasantly supprised.

That would be a neat trick; please explain how this would be done?

Very, very interesting.

Huh? so dumping 60 seconds worth of water (2.5 gallons at the least) every time you turn on the hot tap is less wasteful?

He might have a ground force heat pump system with a de-superheater attachment. Then his "furnace" (which is really a ground force heat pump) would heat his water for free (except in the winter if he lives in a cold state). The only problem is that his furnace probably cost him 2 to 3x what your furnace cost you. I was going to use a gfhp with a desuperheater on a new house I was going to build until I moved to a different part of the country where digging into the ground is a nightmare (which is required for gfhp's if you don't have a large water source like a pond nearby).

Properly insulated a house needs very little heat to keep it comfortable, but my guess is that many old houses have no real insulation and poor sealing and cost a fortune to keep warm.

Someone freezing to death though is a failure on more than just money issues, its neglect, going senile, or whatever.

Some are rich, and some are poor, why is way beyond this forum, so get over it.

I do not like the in-sink hot water heaters. Before too long, they develop heavy scale on the inside which then flakes into your drink (as was mentioned previously). Not sure if there is supposed to be routine maintenance with these things but I ended up throwing it away. Before that happens, the water definitely tastes bad.

I have since gone with a desktop hot water heater which are pretty commonplace in asia. Best part is that they are easy to clean--just like you would a coffee maker...a chore I do about once ever 3 weeks. The water is really really hot and the only two downsides really is that it must be filled periodically (unlike the in-sink variety) and takes up some countertop space. In some households, there is no outlet under the sink so this desktop unit is a nice alternative.

Here is an example but the popular brands include Zojirushi, Panasonic, Sanyo, etc.:

Top uses (for me):
(1) French Pressed coffee -- the gold standard for preparing the most flavorful coffee! Amazon has some nice french presses too ($15-20).
(2) Instant noodles -- the kind in the cups.
(3) Tea -- green, orange pekoe, spearamint, crysanthemum...it's all good!
