Assuming you aren't infected or killed/irradiated, where would you take shelter immediately and then long term? A lot would depend on the specific circumstances, but what would be your inclination as to location and purpose?

Subway/Underground complex. I can come up at strategic points in the city, then return to my underground labyrinth. It would also be easy to defend myself in.

Immediately I would secure my own home.

I have enough spare wood in my garage to cover up my windows and would do so to all but also leave enough of a gap in some key locations to see out of or aim a weapon out of.

Then I'd gather all my supplies and load up my roof rack on my Forester with whatever I needed only. This would include fuel, camping supplies, food, clothing, ammo, etc...

Then I'd make a run for the mountains which are 1.5 hours north of me. Once there I'd head deep into a specific national forest where some cabins I know of border the edge of and I'd set up base there.

In a short distance from there, there is a stream that's large enough to have some fish in it as well as a good source for fresh water. I have enough buck shot to take out a deer if I was lucky enough.

My goal would be to lay low for as long as possible until this blew over.

I have a hand crank radio that I'd use to monitor the airwaves from time to time to see if there's any news out there worth noting on the situation.

That problem with that is NORAD would simply turn you away...and to get there you need to travel through way too many urban areas.

My wife and I would probably travel to her folk's place in Wyoming. That small town is probably more well armed than NORAD anyway. In winter the zombies will freeze, and will get ripped up by coyotes before they thaw in spring.

I'm not sure I would want to be underground... no electricity... and no lights. Zombies probably see better in the dark.

I'd raid sports stores for climbing and camping gear and rig zip lines between the high rises in a downtown area with the people who survived in the other buildings by throwing objects tied to the ends of the ropes...

I'm not saying it WOULD work, but I'd try it.

If the power goes out, it's going to be awful dark, and it could be tough to pinpoint exactly where those noises are coming from...

Also consider that any city with a subway means it has a dense enough population to...have a subway system. That idea totally fails.
