In the market for 2.1 or 2.0 speakers

I currently have the Logitech Z2300 2.1 speakers and I'm pretty satisfied with them. Except for the fact that I'm going to be moving around a lot and don't want to lug around a ~50 pound subwoofer every time. Never really knew much about audio products and I haven't been in the game for a while.

I'm not looking for anything mindblowing, as I'm primarily going to do some light gaming and watching movies and videos. Aiming for best bang for buck with no particular price range in mind (not looking to spend a fortune though). Above all, it just has to be smaller and lighter than the z2300. Suggestions for specific products or good brands?

Was looking into the Logitech Z623, but the subwoofer is probably still too big for my liking.

I like to watch movies further away from my monitor (e.g. bed) and I don't think headphones would be optimal for that.

Select the category, price and rating you want. For portability, you might want an all-in-one type unit. But there are also some very high quality amplified systems like the NHT Superpower 2.1 system.

I would prefer buy smaller bookshelf speakers from a non-gaming company if I were spending more than $50-75. Don't really have a preference for budget multimedia speakers since they are all bleh anyway. BIC has a compact set otherwise you could look at Swans/Hivi which are recommended for bang/buck.

I just picked up a pair of Alesis Elevate 3s. They're alright. You can find 'em a lot of places for around $100 or a little under.

hey have tons of hookup options in the back, including a sub out port.

The sound is as good or better (and cheaper and more beautiful) than the Audioengine stuff.

I own the Kanto YU3 for the bedroom after testing out the Audioengine product. Great speakers!

Those Kanto's look like nice speakers. Personally, I wouldn't want larger than the YU2 for a computer speaker. Currently using the smaller 6 inch Audioengines at work. Found a review of the YU2's versus the Audioengines:http://aphnetworks.com/reviews/kanto_yu2
