I doubt that...they probably sat on these for quite a while when they were near the $450 mark

Of course there is no way to tell when that picture was taken .

FWIW, My B3 from Frys had a pack date of 05/09/07 ..

There are probably a lot of B3's still out there ..

I guess we're probably better off waiting for the big buyout to happen tommorow and buy a little laer to increase the chance of getting a G0 Stepping.

I think I'm going to stick with my E6300, upgrade to a P35 mobo, and then wait for 45nm quad-core. I want to be ready for Alan Wake in 2008 (?) Of course, I'll have to get Vista and a DX10 video card too (like, say, an 8600GTS.. balance price/performance).. *sigh*

That's the only PC game that I'm interested in.. and the only one I'd consider doing any upgrades to my computer for.

EDIT: I crunch, edit, 3D-render, and multi-task to hell.

im almost the same as you

mar 06 - 3700+ with n6600 graphics
dec 06 - 4400+ with x1650 crossfire with dfi board
may 07 - Opty 185 - a8n32 sli with 8600gts *media build *
and now getting the e6850... spec on sig

one would think i was making more then enough money but im not =/ but i just
cant stay away

I agree, it may be months before we see a G0.

Yeah, I'm pretty much resigned to getting an e6750 and going for 4 ghz...or 4 gjz as that jul22 chart shows...

Sorry to be a little OT, but do the Xeons OC better than the standard ones or is it all still a crap shoot?

On topic, I'll be watching the prices, but I can wait until late August before I will feel the "need" to buy.

I'd also like to know about the Xeon's, esp. as to power consumption... Looks like July 29 is their supposed date.

BTW $289 CDN = approx $275 USD if anyone is wondering.

I think you'll see better pricing on Monday once everyone starts updating and listing them.

I thinking pricing will stay where it's at for several weeks. There will be a surge in sales at this price point, regardless of steppings. The surge will renew as they get G0's. Deplete current stock at $280+, and sell G0's for $280+.

Product is in demand both now and after G0's are in place. Wouldn't make sense to lower price as the hotter of the steppings becomes available. Who knows though...

it's unlikely the price will go down too much lower... it's the 22nd now and it's still showing $299 on newegg. maybe in a few weeks, it may be down to $275 to $280? Not sure.

It's simple supply and demand. The price will come down further only when/if there's a large influx of supply and/or a decrease in demand.. or if there are more price cuts from Intel.

I wonder if I should keep or sell my 2GB (2x1GB) of DDR2-667 when I buy a P35 mobo.. or just get another 2GB of it for $80. Any huge difference between it and DDR2-800 or 1066 on the P35 chipset? I don't think DDR3 is necessary.

that depends on how much you plan to oc/upgrade in the future. native 1333 processors are already here, so you will need to oc your ram to oc any of those. It also looks like penryn will offer at least 1600 fsb in the future, too. You might want to sit tight for a while and see what your future needs are unless you are already in need of more than 2 gb. Keep in mind that ddr2 is incredibly cheap right now, too. If you keep your eyes peeled you will easily be able to upgrade to 800 or even 1066. I watched newegg for 3 wks and was able to get 2x1gb of crucial ballistix ddr2 1066 for 89.99 AR last month for example. I've been keeping my eyes out for another 2gb (just in case ), but the price went up to $202 with no rebate! It's back down a little bit now, but you see what I mean.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll just keep what I have with the P35 mobo.. and then upgrade CPU/RAM as needed. My main goal is to have a great machine for Alan Wake when it comes out in 2008. Core 2 Quad, 8600GTS, 4GB on Vista 64.
