That was my hope, pulled the trigger @ newegg.

It was $320, however neweggs ram prices are excellent right now, and the shipping was only $4.99 for everything.

So im hoping for a shot at a G0 and if not oh well, ill still be happy with quad core and 4GB for under $500

I was going to do the same thing, but after some calling around it's pretty clear there are still B3s in the supply chain. Honestly, I'd be happy with a B3 also, but since I initially delayed ordering my parts for a G0, I've waited long enough that I want to be assured of the new stepping.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, let us know what you get.

Fry's and Microcenter are at $289 & $319 respectively .. If you visit a local store, you can check stepping..

I went to Fry's, and they don't have the processor boxes on the floor, you have to ask their staff members to check product codes. It usually takes about three of them before you can get somebody who knows how to operate the computer, at which point he calls some other person who doesn't know what their doing, and they check the box code. They're probably only checking one box, but at that point you realize you'll be in the store for 45 minutes before they check a second box, and you go back home.

Actually you have to go to the checkout counter and ask one of the people to have the guy in the cage check the boxes for you for a specific product code cause you want to buy one of their $300 processors.

Not to mention in my state at least, the sales tax rate is 9% rufly, which adds about 27 dollars onto the total.. probably better off just going on-online, if you live in WA at least.

I'm at the point where if i can find a G0 for less then 300 shipped i'll purchase. haven't found that yet (with a gaurantee on G0 at least).

I live in WA too and live about an hour and a half away from fry's which is the only major computer store around (best buy and circuit city don't count) and with a sale tax over 8.6% it is cheaper to pay $28 bucks shipping from ncixus than to drive down to fry's (paying for gas) and then buy a $289 and pay for tax on top of that and with gas a $3 a gallon here it is easier just to buy online.

I envy people living in states with semi compitent politicians. These guys make congress look like einstiens(one in the state legislature wanted to make puting on makeup in your car illegal, his reason was it was he didn't have to do and we spend .5 billion dollars to decide that $14 billion dollars was too much to pay for an 11mile monorail system)
sorry about that I needed to vent:|

Hey guys, got some info for you guys in case you don't know. Right now you can pre-order the Q6600 G0 at http://www.clubit.com"]ClubIT[/URL] through the phone. I just did it today and it's the best sure deal I've seen so far. The sales rep told me their estimating getting their supply beginning of August and it only cost me $295.00 and shipping is free plus if you want to cancel your order, there is no charge. I also asked the sales rep how big the list for pre-order's is right now and he said it was pretty small only like 30 people right now. So I know there's other sites like tankguys that you can pre-order or you can take your chances with NCIX's, but I think ClubIT has the best deal right now.

I'm also in WA, I went to Fry's on Friday and they only had B3s. NCIXUS won't guarantee a G0 , so for you it's TankGuys (August 10th) or Club IT (hopefully sooner).

I too preordered from ClubIT on the 30th of July.

As of today, July 31, they have reportedly never yet received
a G0 Q6600 CPU, but they hope to do so during early August.

Their recent re-stockings must have been all B3 Q6600s, though.

Some people say they've gotten mixed G0 and B3 Q6600's from MWAVE,
so that is an uncertain option if you want a G0.

That's good to know -- their pricing remains quite favorable, so they should continue selling through their shipments quickly. It's a matter of time.

I preordered one last week but I've heard of one person atleast getting 5 G0's from Clubit. They didn't preorder either just bought them last week.

Check out bamacre's post at the bottom.

Exactly what I thought. I know I preordered it on the 23rd of last month, when you initially made your thread. Yet, those G0's shipped out on the 25th from Clubit. So I'm guessing they must have some G0's at the warehouse.

I'll have all my new parts in by Friday, except for the case and Q6600. Until then I'll be on this dying junk.

I stand corrected. I had mis-recalled that bamacre had ordered from MWAVE
and gotten the mix of G0/B3, but instead I see that it was ClubIT.

I echo the "WTF, they're supposed to be fulfilling our G0 pre-orders with those!"
sentiment!

I asked explicitly and was told explicitly:

a) they've never had Q6600 G0's as of 7-31.

b) they do physically get/handle/check inventory of their CPUs as a matter
of normal process, and hence that's how they can tell what they do / don't have,
and how they'll get us the first available G0s.

I now see that (a) was blatantly false, and that leads me to question whether they
even have ANY IDEA of what their stock is, or have any process of sorting G0s
out at all.

It could be that if they just SAT ON and DELAYED all the G0 preorders by a week
or more then they could effectively guarantee G0s without even looking because
effectively all the B3 supply would be gone by then. However they told me that
they'd be supplying the first available G0s to those with preorders, and would
be doing physical sorting/discrimination to get us those. That's a long way different
than just saying "we've probably got dozens of G0s now, but instead of sending
those now from stock, we'll sit on your orders for another week or two until the
B3's are all gone because that's easier than checking"!

Ack I've had it with all these vendors that can't even manage to be honest and
knowledgeable about the products they're selling so that they can actually
efficiently sell the products they *do* have to customers that want them.

Now I see the Q6600 is "out of stock" again at ClubIT, and I bet tomorrow
morning they'll have them "back in stock" from a new shipment, and who knows
if they're going to really make any effort to sort out the G0s from the next
shipment to fulfill their standing orders.

I wish I had better information about the percentage of people having received
G0 vs. B3 from recent orders with Clubit, Mwave, Newegg, Frys, etc.

I'm just impatient and annoyed at the unnecessary delays in getting the G0;
it SHOULD have been able to be ordered from ANYWHERE on 22 July except
for the incompetence of the resellers to actually sell products their customers want.

I question what "service" the e-tailers provide the customer for things like CPUs,
etc. if they can't even be bothered to answer simple questions about the inventory
and sell parts that are specifically compatible with the end user's needs, they're
useless.

At least with brick & mortar stores you could look at the product for yourself to
see if it's the one you want.

If we just cut out the useless e-tailers and could order directly from somewhere
like an Intel direct e-store or at least one of their major distributors we'd be
certain of getting fresher stock and better prices and better quality / competence
of service.

These e-tailers do nothing other than charge your credit card then place an
"drop ship" order from some OTHER retailer to deliver the product to you at an
additional mark-up. No thanks, I could have ordered it from the supplier myself
except for all this uselessly long supplier chain cr*p where NO value / service
is added at the lower links of the chain, ONLY cost increases and more incompetence.

Now I'm sitting on 16G of RAM, a motherboard, video card, etc. that I can't
even use waiting for a CPU that's been in inventory somewhere for ~ 2 weeks
meanwhile since I can't test my other purchased hardware I lose the ability
to claim "dead/damaged on arrival" defective product coverage or do a charge-back if
something is not as advertised since it takes so long to get the CPU to even
test the system that gathers dust.

What a lovely "internet age" supply chain efficiency we have.
I can't wait until we can order straight from Intel / AMD / etc.

Intel would get into hot water extremely fast if they started selling directly to non-employees.
