I always used to go at 1:00 AM -- I'd be the only one there, except for a lady that came in with her sister on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I wish my new town had a 24 hr. card-access gym.

At the end of the workday or late afternoon. This way the body prepares all afternoon for the exertion by increasing metabolism and waking up.
