The cross is symbolic of the Roman method of execution. It is a now considered a Christian icon because it represents the crucifixion of Jesus and has been used as such for centuries. The birth of Christ is a festive occasion and to link the device used in his execution on his birthday is wrong.
I'm not trying to bash Christians, but just pointing out that there are times when the cross in non-offensive, such as Easter, but at Christmas it seems inappropriate.

The cross is also symbolic of Christ overcoming death. Christmas is a celebration of his birth. However, when thinking of Christ anytime of the year, we are reminded of his complete life. His birth, teachings, death and resurrection.

This obsession with death is what ruins the birthday celebration. The resurrection of Christ is what makes Christians believers, not his execution.

Wow am I sorry I made this post. Some people are taking it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to serious. The picture in the add itself, being sort of blurry and out of focus somewhat makes the cross look as if its aflame. I didnt mean to imply that the WHOLE FREAKING IDEA of the decoration was racist and in poor taste. It was just a slightly comical add and lo-and-behold ATOT takes it to the extreme at every angle playing the righteous and "better than you" card.

I agree, your thread is a failure.
I thought the decoration was funny for two reasons:
1. The description said something about showing the true meaning of Christmas (and actually Christmas isn't Christmas, it's Saturnalia or Sol Invictus). The cross has nothing to do with Christmas though. That's Easter. Put up an angel, star or nativity scene.
2. The picture looks like a burning cross.
