I saw a screening of this movie last night. The theater has over 300 people waiting in line to see this movie. The movie was downright boring. The special graphics were not that great. It is a long movie being 2 hours and 28 minutes. I found it to be a copy of the 1984 movie Dreamscape where they would go into your dreams and fight and do all sorts of things. Hey, Inception has the same plot, they go into your dreams and fight and plant things in your mind. Leo appeared overweight and some of the people I was with thought it was actually Jack Black when he had that dopey look on his face.

Overall: The acting was poor to fair. The plot was a copy of a past movie. The special effects looked like they did it with mirrors and computer cut and paste. I would not expect this movie to do well. Hopefully Cyrus will be better. I'm seeing it tomorrow.

Two thunbs down.

im sorry, but you are just flat out WRONG. the acting in this movie was phenomenal and leo really is one of the best actors that are around in hollywood.

also he did not appear fat at all, he has in general filled out as he has gotten older. lookis like jack black? yea ... again, flat out wrong.

movie owned too

This guy is BlahBlahBlah's other SN, there can be no doubt if he thinks Leo is fat.

Just saw the movie. Hadn't been to a theater in over an year but I went for this because it had Leo and Nolan associated with it. Didn't watch any of the trailers, didn't even look at any posters; all I knew was that it was a sci-fi movie and early reviews were outstanding.

I loved how there is no mumbo-jumbo explanation for how it all works ('tapping' into dreams, extraction, getting trained for subconscious defense against extraction etc.) The movie expects the audience is smart enough to just roll with it. And it worked really well. It could have gotten really confusing but it didn't. Excellent editing, no doubt about it. Not quite the cinematic experience that The Dark Knight was (that movie's production values, acting and score were impeccable) but I was engrossed throughout.

IT works 'cause the US Military developed. Actually, the whole movie is a subconscious ploy by the Obama administration to bolster the US population's (and world's) opinion of the war efforts and US Military.

I'm not going to read this thread for fear of spoilers, but I have a quick question.

Has anyone seen this in Imax? Is it worth it? I have a theater 10 minutes from my house so if it's worth the extra $4 I'll do it seeing as how this and the Expendables are the only movies left on my summer watch list.

I liked the film because even though it wasn't an intellectual's guide to psychoanalysis, the director doesn't try to dumb things down, he doesn't just turn all the dreams into Night of the Museum in someone's mind but legitimately creates a story that demands you to keep pace and rewards you if you do.

Saw it last night. I thought it was awesome and one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. What a mindfuck!

The visuals are impressive, but the movie is mainly driven by the story and characters. So I would say that the movie is just as good with either regular or IMAX theatres. (Unlike movies like Transformers, Avatar, etc, which depend mainly on special EFX.)

I think the first half of the movie was sloppily done, and it was hard to follow the dialogue at points (especially with some accents). However, the second half was great. So, in the end, I really liked the movie.

If I had to compare it to another movie, it's somewhat similar to The Matrix (1st movie). However, I feel that The Matrix did a better job presenting all of the parts of the movie as a whole compared to Inception.

I can't say Inception was a mindfuck, though. Try Salvia, and THEN question reality.

First movie I've actually seen in theaters in a long time, and it didn't disappoint. The ending was awesome...you could just feel the tension building in the theater waiting for it to fall...and then the whole theater's disappointed sigh

It was good. I liked it a lot, did not love it. There were some extraneous, wasteful action parts that really made it drag. The ideas were wonderful and the end is wonderfully frustrating to think about.

Sigh? The girl behind us practically screamed, "WHAT??!!!" Along with probably a quarter of the audience. I've never seen an audience react like that at the end of a movie before.

hey guys, just another theory here, but it's possible the whole thing was a dream except when he wakes up on the plane.

So basically he is going home for whatever reason and he dreams all of this about extraction and so forth on the plane and drifts from one dream to another.

The spinning top at the end might not actually have any real significance, and the fact that it was about to falter at the end might just be a nudge to the audience saying "why does it matter?"

However, I have trouble thinking the entire thing was a dream because a lot of those people, like Michael Caine, were a bit too pronounced. In other words, they were actually in existence I think because they couldn't be projections of his subconscious unless other people were dream sharing with him.

What makes me think he was dreaming until the very end was because he met the old Japanese guy in the beginning and then saw the old japanese guy in the end.

edit: wikipedia seems to think that was sort of a "X amount of time later," so the entire film was explaining how it go to that point...it's just I kinda missed that transition...maybe we were supposed to?

Why are people having a hard time with the Asian old Guy at the beginning and the end? Its the same scene. They start with part of the clip at the beginning that goes with the actual end.

There was no point that I felt lost and loved the ending.

Excellent movie. Easily the best I've seen in the last year, maybe two.

I went to see it tonight, really enjoyed it, not too much of a mindfuck or anything. Just a really solid edge of your seat type thing.

Actually, it was a very bad scene. Watanabe's character grew to look like 1000 years old. And he didn't even look Asian anymore.

Leo's character got some gray hairs and his face looked basically the same.

That was a huge WTH oversight moment when I was watching it.

i could be wrong, but i dont remember them showing leo or his wifes face when they were old. i just remember them showing them holding hands from behind and nothing more.

He spent more time in limbo since he died. I assume that means he would age more based on what they said about limbo earlier on in the movie.

based on that then, I am fairly certain the last scene was definitely an "awake" scene and that the spinning top was a symbol of how a dream state may exist even in reality.

That's also correct.

The Asian guy was in limbo for much longer (in limbo time) than Cobb was, which is why he was so much older looking.

They explained how the time moved throughout the movie, that was one of the key points discussed.

When Cobb and his Wife went so deep that they got stuck in limbo also, they were there so long that they grew old and grey together, he even said "we already did grow old together" and they showed the scenes where they were old and walking and that when they were laying on the train tracks, they were actually old. But when the awoke in the room after the train hit them they were young. It's not like in real time they were gone long, but in limbo time they were there for 50 years. That was a huge key element of the movie that was outlined very clearly IMO.
