I work in IT and we recently switched several Business Development personnel to Adobe Indesign from Pagemaker, illustrator, etc. At the same time we switched their computers to brand new dells. We are running into major performance issues and I was just wondering if anybody has worked with this product and would have any suggestions. Specifically, in Indesign (mainly converted pagemaker files), simply highligting text can take 5-10 seconds. We have been able to get this down by rebuilding the image we used for the computers, but we still see 1-2 second delays. This also happens when entering new text, it will print a few on the screen, then pause, then do a few more, then pause again. This happens on pretty much every computer we have tried (we deployed 18 of them). We tried doubling the ram, adding faster ram (the person that ordered these only ordered pc2700), and several different display drivers, using a driver cleaner in between. None of this seems to help.
Stats of computers:
Dell GX270
P4 2.8c 800mhz FSB
1gb pc2700 ram
Geforce 5200 128mb graphics
