It's hard to find out who are the bad irresponsible and mentally unstable or radicalized gun owners. And they make the good owners look bad.

The hardest part is that even if you have a questionnaire a 1000 questions long and a shrink session to get a gun permit.. how do we know the person won't become a bad irresponsible and mentally unstable or radicalized gun owner 20 years down the line after he sees his spouse having an affair or getting passed over for promotion at work repeatedly?

You can't know. Life is not 100% safe, never has been, and never will be. We can work to reduce the incidents while still maintaining our rights, but the goal shouldn't be 100% prevention because that could only exist in a completely alien form of governance. Security vs freedom, and such.

Speaking pragmatically I wish I had a solution to the problem but the problem of bad irresponsible and mentally unstable or radicalized gun owners does exist. The NRA and its supporters and the anti gun crowd are extremes of the argument but I do think we need to do something. What though depends on how reasonable it is.

You do not more or less really in many cases.

I have probably more than my fair share of firearms myself.

It's just a fact of life more or less.

I'm not, but it doesn't matter because there isn't hypocrisy in your statement. My guns haven't killed anyone last time I checked. I keep a pistol for home defense, a shotgun for trap shooting, and an assortment of 22 rifles for target practice. Our area just had deer season with thousands of hunters enjoying the past-time with their family and friends. No murders took place.

Until someone kill someone else he is not a killer. So obviously you can't have killers walking around freely.
But guns kill 33,000 Americans a year and injures 80,000.

It is time to wake up ... don't close your eyes to make it dark.

You should send that message to Republican think tanks and especially extremists.

There is nothing wrong with profiling. One of the biggest shows on TV is all about profiling. Criminal Minds. FBI use it, cops use it. Its just statistics and probability. Don't like that your part of the problem of a higher stat then work to change that. Stats don't lie.
Since no one's pointed it out, you are aware, aren't you, that Criminal Minds is a fictional television show. Right? Fictional.

The show is fictional but profiling is still used by law enforcement agencies so his point is still valid.

Not using profiling is the epitome of stupid. Look at this thread. There are those willing to point out that some right-wingers are sociopaths yet sidestep pointing out that some Muslims are no different. We need to keep an eye out for both forms of extremists.

That's just an unfortunate fact of life.

You know, there have been a lot of batshit crazy white dudes who have shot up the fucking joint, maybe we should racially profile white dudes who love guns? I'm sure you'll be screaming about it if that happened. Interesting how you don't care too much about the 2nd amendment when it's a POC buying ammo.
Yeah it's a good thing there is no racial profiling of white guys who own guns:

but when you are white, don't worry, buy as many as AK-47s that you want a
Leave more AR-15 and ammo for angry and paranoid white males

Damn those racist Republican CA politicians!!!D:

http://dailycaller.com/2013/07/13/california-sen-de-leon-backs-racial-profiling-of-ammo-sales/

“If you have a young woman who is in her mid-20s or late 20s, who’s purchasing large quantities on a weekly basis, quite consistently, good detective work says, ‘Hmm. This is quite interesting. Cause it doesn’t fit the pattern that we’ve seen historically. Therefore, let’s scratch the surface a little deeper and let’s see where this leads us to. Is the large purchase or quantity — is this a straw buyer? Are they going out to the black market, where they are selling it in the streets in Oakland and Richmond and elsewhere?’”

So as soon as minorities start buying AR-15 ammunition, America is on heightened alert but when you are white, don't worry, buy as many as AK-47s that you want and you won't hear anything from the government?

What a disgrace.

Racism in plain sight.

What do you think this ridiculous banning people on terrorist list from buying guns is all about? Think it is filled with white middle aged men? That is why I cant figure out the support from the left on that violation of our constitutional rights. But most if not all gun regulation is either aimed at brown people or ultimately hurts their ability to purchase a weapon.

See? You're not stupid!

Now let's see if Homer can read your post and get the answer right.

I'll let this answer for me. Remember my post did say in the US.
http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/11/opinion/bergen-terror-september-11/index.html
since the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people at the World Trade Center and Pentagon 11 years ago, 19 people have died in terrorist attacks in the United States that were motivated by ideologies that have nothing to do with the ideas of Osama bin Laden, but rather were the victims of terrorists motivated by extreme anti-government views or virulent anti-Semitic/neo-Nazi views
Jihadist terrorists, on the other hand, have killed 17 people, according to data compiled by the New America Foundation from thousands of news reports and court documents. ("Jihadist" terrorists are defined in this database as those associated with or motivated by al Qaeda, or its affiliates or like-minded groups.)

Since 9/11 more people have been killed in the US by right wing/white supremacists then Muslims. So if profiling is ok why aren't the police called whenever white guys buy guns/ammo?

Because you don't narc on your own? Are you being purposely dense or...?

Straw buying on ammo? ROTFLMAO x 1000000000000000000.

<stop to breath> ROTFLMAO x 10000000000000000000000 again.

Goodness, so stupid. as stupid as "assault clothing". You are not require to have background check or ID or anything to buy ammo so anyone could buy them. Have the money to pay for them? Buy as much as you want. Heck, you can buy all the ammo at the store if you have the cash. At least that how things are around here in the free states and not in nanny states.

The show is fictional yes, but what were talking about is a reality. Governments, law enforcement and people profile everyday. Its just part of life to draw patterns to things. It's how we've survived this long.

Well when talking about terrorism it's kind of hard to count people killed by people in their own country because we decided to start a war there.

His statement is still valid though, more Americans have been killed by right-wing terrorists within the United States than muslim terrorists have killed within the United States. The only point you made is that we shouldn't be in their homeland that way when they blow shit up there won't be any Americans around to be injured. I honestly don't give a shit if they blow shit up in their country, I very much give a shit if they blow shit up in mine.

Because you have no defense, you try and create a strawman pivot argument blaming someone else - namely the cops here.

I didn't rail about the cops in my OP. I railed about the issue.

When everyone in our country enjoys the 2nd amendment.. why can't she can't enjoy it as well? Why is it she even getting reported to the police?

Can you answer that? No you can't because this is exactly the rhetoric that is being incited by the GOP clowns which it's followers blindly believe..

Mongrel is right.. nothing to see here.. we already know what's going on.. and the deniers are busy creating strawman arguments.

Therein lies the unspoken conundrum for Republicans...

They want 2nd amendment rights for "their people"
They want freedom of religion for Christians

Dick's has had odd ammo purchase policies for a while now. They used to claim that a non-citizen was a prohibited person IIRC.

I think things like this can't go on for much long. We need some sort of common sense gun control for people who aren't white.

This is all by design. The media spreads mass misinformation about Muslims being bad and then its fueled by politicians and then it spreads. Now we have Westerners, who had certain feelings about non-Westerners, really prejudiced against *Muslims*. The average American or European now has a distinct and vivid image of a Muslim. When they see a person who looks, talks or acts a certain way, that image and label takes comes up. Whether that image is totally meaningless and off-base doesn't matter. Their conditioning is so strong that they can't help it.

The US government and its media operations have done a decent job in portraying the so-called Muslims and others their don't particularly like in a certain way. Examples of people and places they demean include but are not limited to Russia, China, Venezuela, Iran, North Korea, etc. These Westerners demonize anyone standing in their way.

So it doesn't matter if the person is guilty in any way or not; it doesn't matter if they are Muslim or not. The Westerners are now trained and they will react accordingly.

By the way, every human being is conditioned so its not just the Westerners. We're just conditioned differently. The non-Westerners have their own biases so they are no better in any way.
