Well, I think our PM is doing a great job. He has a very difficult job. Imagine how many people are in Canada. Its very difficult to keep everyone happy.

Espicially with a group like the indians. I cannot honestly say I know much about what rights you feel you deserve, etc, but I know you have some. And I understand how your culture was the first in Canada, and I think thats a great part of our heritage, but now we are growing into a larger country and you have to understand its hard to give a specific group more rights than the next.

Anyway, we live in a free country, with great heathcare, and great education. We complain about the small things, but trust me, it could be a lot worse. We have been greatly blessed.

Therefore, I think our PM is doing a great job. I respect him for taking on such a difficult task.

Don't think it'll happen.... probably should happen, but having an indian PM is like the US having a Black President. I am for it 100%, but i) many people aren't and ii) hopefully you look at more than his race/skin color at election time

Sorry Watersnake, that changes things I guess. I thought you were talking about our good old Canadian issues.

Since you weren't, I will stay out of this thread.

What the hell are you people talking about??? He's from INDIA, he's asking about the INDIAN Prime Minister! Take a look at his profile!

With that out the way, I know absolutely nothing about India's politics, so I will bow out of the matter.

EDIT: Looks like I was a little slow!

Watersnake: I'm glad to see another fellow Indian on the BBS. PS: My dad was in Hydrabad a few weeks ago..during the flood. Urmila was in staying on the same floor as him as well!!!!

Back to Topic:
Actually India does help it's people. It's just that their efforts don't show up on CNN or MSNBC that's all. However our missle development do come on CNN and MSNBC, so that's all you hear about India.

Many muncipalities in India are cleaning up the slums and giving free housing to them and starting them off with a job, and giving them an education. However you are right about our Gov't..it is corrupt. My dad recently had a talk with a few of them and he got pissed at them. Some only will only think about money instead of helping others. If it were up to me, I would kill every single corrupt Minister in the Gov't.

But now they are cracking up on the corruption. They have cracked down many many people. And they even publicize the corrupt people so everyone would know who they are and their friend's/families will be ashamed of them. Even posted on a website, and other people can post on the website if they know a corrupt politician. We are coming towards a clean Gov't soon...we are making large strides in the right direction.

However all countries have a little corruption if not a lot, so we cannot totally eliminate it but we can do our best eradicate most of it.

Our current Prime Minister is NOT corrupt and he's helped India a lot, unlike that retard J. Nehru! He fscked up the nation and was a power-hungry b@stard! However I won't get into the details of it, because it may cause some flames and I'll probably be get into a bad mood while writing about it.

If you have any questions, Please ask and I'll do my best to respond.

The current Indian PM is the greatest PM India has ever had, and is likely to be the greatest PM India ever will have. He doesn't have an ounce of corruption within in him, and he's gone after corruption at the state level very aggressively (where its worst). Also, his mind isn't filled with all this idiotic "Appease the Middle East, China, and the West" notions that many of the prior Indian PM's suffered from. During his time in office, there's been more economic growth in India than in the last 20 years.

is more interested in building up her Nuclear Arsenal than helping her Citizens climb out of the devastating poverty that Millions are suffering in.

WTF do you expect the gov't to do? Have you even been to India before (doubt it, since it seems unlikely you've ever left whatever hick town you live in). The gov't could give all taxes collected to the poor, and that still wouldn't solve sh|t. Most people who are poor in India right now, are poor due to their own ignorance. And India is a capitalist society too (they have officially abandoned their socialist leanings), so it would be inconsistent with economic policy to invest in a large infrastructure to help the poor. Even here in the U.S., how many poor kids living in the ghetto get ahead because of goofy welfare programs and such? People get ahead by being motivated and working hard, and that holds true for the poor in India as well

And it's easy for the U.S. to say that India doesn't need nuclear arms. The U.S. is located between Mexico and Canada, neither of which happen to be aggressive. India has a whole horde of fundamentalist Muslim nations to the North and West of it, and China to the East (BTW, China has actually claimed the entire Northeastern chunk of India, and actually invaded a small portion of it). It's such an idiotic thing to say that "a country should help its poor before doing anything else". I'm sure the poor in India are very glad that India has invested in heavily in its national defense program, because without it, lots of those poor would be working in Communists labor camps in China, or would be praying 10 times a day to Allah, because some Muslim forced them to convert.

The worst thing India could do now is sign the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. EVEN THE U.S. DIDN'T SIGN IT

Red Dawn- you're pre-edited version was funnier.

Cybersax,

I'm not sure that some are able to escape poverty, no matter how hard they work. I think this is a myth some of us have b/c of the societies we live in. I agree that the Indian PM is quite good.

KidViciou$,

until you've experience what it's like to be on the poverty side, as the servants for example do you think you've really experienced "both" sides? Personally, I've only experienced upper-middle class in India.
