Oh well, at least this new movie had Janitor in it.

Yeah, it affected ferrous and non-ferrous metals...sometimes. And it repels ants. It was magic. You know, because it was a half-living, alien, crystal skull.

LOL

This movie was fucking terrible. Even if you forget about the interdimensional acrylic aliens....
Dramatic gophers? Check.
Snake used as a rope? Check.
Greaser swinging through the jungle like Tarzan with a bunch of greaser-haired monkeys? Check.

Everybody ready for Mutt Jones sequels? Sigh...

I had an epiphany halfway through the night: this would've been a decent Brendan Frasier, "The Mummy" movie.

I liked it a lot. Except for 2 things. That stupid tarzan-monkey shit and the wedding at the end. At least they kept the gophers screentime to a minimum.

Order of rocking:

Raiders of the Lost Ark > Last Crusade / Crystal Skull > Temple of Doom

There are still a few things about Last Crusade that bug me.

I liked most of it. It had pretty cool action. As said above, my gripes were the Tarzan scene (WTF was that) and the Aliens. It would have been MUCH better if Aliens didn't somehow appera, open an interdimensional portal, and fly a saucer out of El Dorado.

I enjoyed the whole thing. I thought it was classic, and you'll be watching this again decades from now.

This movie was awful.

First three indys are believably unbelievable

this was unbelievably unbelievable

especially the council of aliens

and the fact that shia labeouf or whatever his name was mutt was able to swing on vines like he was tarzan after watching monkeys do it - and then he was able to "sick" them on the soviets.

then the fact that they fall down 2 big waterfalls and one HUGE one - niagra falls style - an it had the equivalent of falling from a 1 foot platform on them. when its believably unbelievable i like it - when its ridiculous it's too much.

"theyre intergalactic dimensional beings" lol oh boy what a dud this flick was.

man everything george lucas has put his hands on lately turns straight to shit

I will have to admit I was pretty underwhelmed as well. Glad I only paid $1.50 total for three of us......

Wasnt his father also immortal after drinking from the cup ?...but then they play it as his dad died in this new one ?

WTF ?..That undermines The Last Crusade !

I must say, the Nuclear blast and living through it was fcuking great, but the rest was azz...

I think the effect only lasted as long as he stayed within some certain boundary.
So if you want to live forever, you'd have to stay in that crappy old place with the invisible bridge of faith, and the World's Largest Grail Collection.

I suppose you could get some contractors in though to spruce the place up a bit, and maybe get FIOS or something installed. You'd really need a good work-at-home job though.

Besides, what exactly would this "immortality" entail? Let's say he takes a direct hit from an RPG and is blasted into a chunky mist. Then what? Does the slurry come back together Terminator-style?

It only worked if you didn't pass the seal. When Indy/Henry Sr. left so did their immortality. Connery was asked to be in this film, but decided to remain retired. So they just wrote him out.

I still haven't seen this, but the aliens just sound terrible. The ideal that Lucas wants to do Mutt movies now is even worse.

The aliens ruined the ending for me. First thing I thought of was E.T. and aliens don't fit in with Indy theme, TBH. I was looking forward to more history and puzzles like Lost Crusade had. The lady playing the Russian villian was just terrible.. probably the worst actor of all of them.

The ants were cool though, and the jungle car chase reminded me of old-school Indy action sequences.

Doom > Crusade > Ark > Pokemon > Skulls

It was definitely entertaining.. But I was a little dissappointed.. and it's all because George Lucas has some kind of hard on for making serious things silly..

Where's the blood and guts of the other Indiana Jones movies?

Question: When Indy was talking about Pancho Villa, was that a nod to the Young Indiana Jones tv show?

Another question, who was his love interest? Her name sounds familiar so I'm pretty sure she was in one of the previous films, but I don't remember which one. Lost Ark perhaps?

3a.) Uwe Boll Movie
4.) Temple of Doom

*Yawn*. Ya know....ya shouldn't make movies if you have a half ass script that doesn't tie in well with the original mythology that started it all.

Lucas and Spielberg had genius.....once.....now they're old, rich, comfortable and don't have that edge. They're out of touch with telling good stories.

It had me until the Tarzan scene, crazy alien stories and all. After that, I pretty much couldn't take the movie seriously anymore. I agree with a sentiment posted earlier, why does George Lucas have to turn serious movies into kids movies?

I went to this movie without no expectations what so ever. It has been 10 years since I've seen the other Indiana Jones movies so I don't even remember them very much either. I thought this movie was awesome. Excellent over-the-top non stop action scenes. I don't mind the Alien plot at all, it actually fits in with so much conspiracy-esque history that I thought it was pretty cool.

Meh... it was a decent movie on its own but it was piss poor for an indiana jones flick. Indy's smart ass remarks near the beginning felt really forced and not as fluent as they used to be. The alien thing ruined it, and all of the 'twists' in the movie were predictable and poor. I went in to the movie thinking that kid was his son, but apparently that was supposed to be a surprise.
