The profit numbers seem to be out of context though. Can you even use such a number to judge growth from the company that doesn't even set the price? As much as I love my country, I wish we could be more like Mexico and have full control over our oil. Even if it has to be the government that sets prices, it's still within our borders.

My friend drives a Gas Tanker.

He said the Buckeye Terminal ran out of fuel.

He is driving out of state to get fuel and has been told he can go over the 14 hour rule.

Michigan governor issues state of energy emergency ahead of holiday weekend

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder declared a state of energy emergency on Tuesday because of ongoing problems with a major petroleum products pipeline combined with an unexpected outage at Marathon Petroleum Corp's Detroit refinery.

The order was in response to an "unplanned" outage at the 106,000 barrels-per-day Detroit refinery along with the extended outage of the West Shore Pipeline, which carries products from Milwaukee to Green Bay, Wisconsin, and has been shut since March 10 for emergency repairs.


Under the order, which comes ahead of the busy U.S. Memorial Day holiday weekend, trucks hauling transportation fuel will be allowed to spend more hours on area roads to ensure fuels are available.


Energy industry intelligence service Genscape reported on Tuesday that the refinery had shut down a naphtha hydrotreater.


The company declined to comment on the report.

Yep even in Indy McOwned could find gas in the $2.20/gal range. I filled up twice in my travel to Iowa and never paid more than $2.15/gal and this was stations along the interstate.

I was surprised that gas was cheaper in Florida when I went there last month than what it was here in Michigan. Prices just went to 2.79 locally today.

The national average price of gas increased by 2 cents per gallon last week to $2.38 per gallon, according to gas price tracker GasBuddy.com. However insignificant the rise nationally, the focus has been on the large spikes in gas prices in the Midwest, which has been impacted by continued refinery problems.

Gasoline prices have continued a mild run higher across much of the country, though in the Great Lakes, gas prices have been on a tear," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com.

"In the last month, no one has seen close to the pain exhibited throughout the Midwest. Average gas prices in Michigan are up nearly 50 cents in the last month, followed by Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin, who have seen a jump of over 30 cents in a month, largely at the hands of various refinery woes and insatiable demand for gasoline."
