If I were a Republican candidate competing for that pool of money to support my campaign expenses, I would be pissed as hell by Trump skimming off those funds for his personal legal battles. Meanwhile, that money isn't going to fight Democratic candidates. Sucks for them. Good for the country.

Cruz, Graham et. al. can parrot the talking points, but they can't pretend to "drain the swamp" (since they are the swamp) and certainly won't have Trump's persona. Trump won in 2016 partly because supporters were drawn to the myths of the self-made man (who really inherited daddy's fortune) and tell-it-like-it-is speech (read: lying, but in a very plain way). Simply anointing someone as the Trump substitute won't make them so in the eyes of voters, even if Fox and the GOP think this person fits the bill.
