Nah, we'll last. It'll just get more and more difficult to be anything other than rich white male heterosexual Christians.

R's across the country are planning, coordinating, and codifying the ability "win" any election they lose. That's not democracy. If by lasting you mean that they won't start with outright slaying their "enemies", then ok. But when democracy is gone, that slippery slope gets a lot more slippery.

Ah, I misread. Democracy will certainly be dead. But folks of a certain subset won't really notice any differences for quite some time and may argue things are getting better.

Ok, I see what you mean, and that's certainly plausible.

Charge the people that truly could have seen this through!! Not "lower" level goons...smh...what a disappointment.
We can hope that there is evidence directly linking certain politicians to those low-level people and the actions they took leading up to and during the event. Imagine that MTG actually did a tour of the building with the Proud Boys the day before and communicated wirh them during the insurrection.
Or that Trump told a group of convicted conspirators to be ready for action. Even if the politicians are not convicted of some crime, that might finally be just too much to vote for them again. Of course, for some voters, it still doesn't matter

It's weird though, seems only the crazy right publications are even carrying the story.

Everything you need to know about the Examiner in one single article:

So now the famous Barr memo has been released unredacted.

“That’s not what our report said”: Ex-Mueller prosecutor says Barr's Trump memo is “legally wrong” | Salon.com

"Although the Special Counsel recognized the unfairness of levying an accusation against the President without bringing criminal charges, the Report's failure to take a position on the matters described therein might be read to imply such an accusation if the confidential report were released to the public," the memo said. "Therefore, we recommend that you examine the Report to determine whether prosecution would be appropriate given the evidence recounted in the Special Counsel's Report, the underlying law, and traditional principles of federal prosecution."
Weissmann called out the passage during his appearance on MSNBC.

"There is a sentence in here that is astounding to me," he said. "The two senior staff, say to Bill Barr that the reason he should make the decision is because if the memo comes out it might be read to imply that the president committed obstruction."

Weissmann added that the memo appeared to show why Barr did not consult Mueller on whether the president committed a crime.

"We now know clearly from his memo that he did not send it back to Mueller — who reported to him — was because he knew exactly what the answer would be," Weissmann said. "Because it says in black and white that this memo could be read to conclude that the president committed obstruction."

This memo is so clearly corrupt that I think those involved should be at a minimum professionally sanctioned.

Check out this section - Trump's OLC decided that if the president impeded a criminal investigation for the purpose of preventing himself from being embarrassed that was not obstruction of justice. It also claims it is okay for the president to engage in witness tampering if he thinks the witnesses are liars, and says it's okay to sabotage criminal proceedings even under such nebulous principles as they impede his governing agenda. It is for all intents and purposes a claim that the president is categorically immune from committing obstruction of justice and can tamper with, end, or whatever else any criminal investigation he doesn't like.

It's the president as king theory.

We are so screwed as a country if the Dumpster somehow gets re-elected.

For me personally it would be the straw the broke the camel's back in terms of not giving a flying fvck about American anything anymore. (and I'm halfway there now)

People may not be shooting each other (yet) but make NO mistake we are ALREADY engaged in the next US "civil" war.

wth is so "civil" about war anyway? (GNR)

Serious question. What do you think will do if he's elected again that would be the end of democracy?

He'll 100% certainly continue down the same path of restricting voting rights and appointing judges that will support laws favoring wealthy white people that the bulk of the GOP is already on. (and I say that as one of those "white people")

He also sucks up to Putin openly.... the man who may well be America's most dangerous enemy. (use your imagination to see where that might lead us)

I could go on and on and on but (1) you already know this stuff and (2) I don't need anything beyond these two points to persuade me... he might not end Democracy personally but I promise you him as POTUS again will really grease the skids.

Its almost like you havent been paying attention to the hearings or anything.
I haven't been paying attention to the hearings at all. Haven't watched a single episode. I plan on catching the highlights reel when they're over.
