So what? Worst case scenario is that the DNC will be fined for improperly reporting campaign expenditures.

The worst thing that could happen is jail time just like with Jr. If someone in the campaign obtained information from a Russian involved with their government to skew an election then we have the same situation.

Is that the case? Heck if I know, but this is not and either or situation and in no way gets Trumpies off the hook.

Yeah, smart money says Manafort is about ready to move from business suit to jumpsuit.

Or perhaps make a deal to catch other and bigger fish. Now that would be interesting because there wasn't much "up" from where he stood.

But it looks like Mueller doesn’t need five years.

Muellers mandate casts a wide net. Think of a toothpaste tube. You want to get everything out so you squeeze from the bottom. It's going to take some time to empty everything, but occasionally you get a big sticky gob of gunk, like Manafort perhaps. But you keep squeezing from the bottom to the very top. That's why things take a long time. Mueller isn't getting some people, he's getting all there is. More effective than draining swamps where you can refill it and put your own critters back.

At what point did Dems use information from the Steele dossier in the campaign? Never. It wasn't more than a rumor before the election & wasn't made public until January of 2017.

The notion that the Dems colluded with the Russian govt to sway the election is laughable in the face of evidence that the Russians engaged in a massive effort to support Trump.

If the reports were not used then fine.

Why do we need Mueller when zinfamous has already solved the case. I guess it's time for you to jump back into the Mystery Machine for the next case. Zoinks!

Hey, Dildo, remember this shit from earlier in the thread?

What evidence? You mean the "dossier" or now what is being called "opposition research"? That triggered a lot of investigations and it is unverified stack of papers from the Russians. Now that the truth about Fusion GPS is out, I guess it's time for Mueller to do something.

And you're the expert? What the fuck man, is it required to smash all mirrors, don the headphones and pipe in Barney the Purple dinosaur, 24/7, in order to get your GOP card?

There is truly an insane amount of money laundering in and around Trump. In the end I think if they get Trump for anything criminal it will be that. (Well that and obstruction of justice)

Trump Tower is a modern day hive of scum and villainy. The amount of shady players that live and operate illegal operations out of it is mind boggling. It's a treasure trove of trash that just keeps on giving. I'm sure as they keep on digging the trail of deception and other crimes will just continue to grow. I just can't fathom how to this day this family of grifters has been able to remain out of jail. The net around this is going to be yuuuuge.

Private, family run business. Selling hot smoke and a gold-painted name plate for a few decades. That's the entire business. No way this con game could have ever gone public. Outside of the lack of an actual product or business model, the financials were never real and they would never hold up to scrutiny to get to the point that they could make a public offer.

It has only ever been a criminal enterprise, and it's kind of staggering how they have maintained this level of hubris to think that the very public position of POTUS would keep their wannabe-mafioso history hidden. The Trump family's post-POTUS life is going to be very difficult for them. Hopefully, their few remaining ill-begotten gains can be confiscated and redistributed properly to finally attempt one actual stab at MAGA. lol.

As most speculated, its Manafort. Certainly not an underling, as many hoped, and not Trump Jr. or Kushner, so no immediate threat to Trump...yet.

My guess. Mueller cast the net so wide, he caught Manafort in criminal activity completely unrelated to the election.

Manafort certainly had the ability and means to flee. Will be interesting to watch this unfold.

Also Rick Gates who was a member of Trumps campaign as well and actually stayed on after Manafort was fired. He since went to a lobbying group heavily tied to the Trump admin and reportedly still has regular contact.

Yeah as I just posted in another thread, Gates is the actually interesting one in all of this. His name hasn't come up much at all as this but he was a Trump campaign guy and also heavily involved with Manafort.

In my mind this is doubling down by Mueller because he can try and catch both in a lie as he questions them, which will just tack more charges on and probably play the game of "who wants to flip on the other first"

I believe Manafort is also one of Mercer's guys or, at least, was hand-picked by Mercer as the person to run the Trump campaign from the beginning.

Ahhh remember the good old days when Trump said he thought he knew the name Manafort but he wasn't with the campaign long. I'm betting those days are coming back.

This looks like it's tax related from offshore dealings. They threw a line out to get a bite. They have one on the hook with this and now they will work to set the hook with more to come later.
