Sessions didn't get his story straight about what did or didn't happen at the Mayflower last May.

Opening statement:

Later, in response to a question from Warner:

Then:

This is all hedging from someone who knows for a fact that there is a tape of Kislyak telling another Russian about a sideline conversation he had with Sessions at that event.

I don't think we're ever going to get a straight, consistent story from him on this topic.

Addendum: This is all of course dissected 8 ways from sunday under the notion that Jeff Sessions is a russian collaborator/spy/bestie.

A good amount of you are truly derranged.

I hope this continues though. Democrats deserve their own Benghazi. Republicans drained every bit of moisture from that well. This is equality. Also, generally speaking, the less time congress (half of whom are senile) spends passing laws the better.

You didn't respond to the content of the message. You did the usual ad hominem of "you are deranged." Please explain why Sessions can't or won't get his story straight.

Because he is a russian spy!

Cue the sarcastic Like's. Those are the best.

"Privileged conversations..." "Can't remember..." "Possibly had a meeting..." "Not to my recollection..." Funny how a grown-ass man has the memory of a goldfish in regard to some serious, and fairly recent, actions and events. Odd how he can't confirm or deny that any conversations took place between himself and the president, but has no problem freely offering up the fact that the conversation he (and Comey et al) had with Pres. Trump on February 14 (the day Trump asked Comey to stay behind for a one-on-one) was specifically about counterterrorism.

The whole "I can't talk but I can't say exactly why except to 'preserve executive privilege once POTUS knows what you want to know about" thing, is interesting.

It sounds like "Trump has not briefed me on what lies to tell, so I can't say anything until I'm told what I know and what I remember."

No bombshell's...but he didn't come across as someone with nothing to hide.

Well... That's because some validation is better than no validation. Your poor victim soul. Thumb sucking ruins your teeth, stick to lonely tears for soothing purposes mmm'kay?

Pretending like you would entertain anything but innuendo. Bless your heart.

Untrue. I myself am far from certain there was any collusion here and, even if there was, that Sessions would have been in the loop. What I know is that he's being less than candid. It might be that he's trying to cover for bad optics rather than any actual wrongdoing.

Sounds too good to be true really. If it is true, well holy shit just imagine...

I like the idea of Comey recording all his conversations with Trump. Man wouldn't that be sweet.

Well, yeh, but he committed wrongdoing on paper & in sworn testimony before the Senate & was allowed one shot to amend those remarks. His goose is cooked if that wasn't full disclosure.

today's blog update that, once again, this thread is based on, is quite intriguing...

"Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak’s phone was both hacked and turned into a ‘hot mike’ for recording conversations by a Five Eyes intelligence agency"

https://patribotics.blog/2017/06/13/exclusive-russian-ambassador-kislyaks-phone-hacked-by-five-eyes/

does that really sound that far-fetched? we know it is technically possible.

What does this mean for us? Does it mean that there might be incriminating audio here vis-a-vis the Dumpster?

Speaking of perjury rather than collusion, yes, but how is it going to be proven? Their evidence is a recorded conversation between Kislyak and another Russian official. Kislyak in theory might not have been telling the truth, and his statement is hearsay anyway.

Like your feelings about Trump colluding with the Russians... OK then.

I have an opinion that is different from yours. Deal with it.

So much projection........

I have no problem with you displaying what an idiot you are. I am just amazed that you are so honest about being one.

Keep on winning!

Sessions was not going to and will not give up anything. And he certainly wasn't going to comment more casually on Trump's behavior as president regardless of whether any actual privilege or reason to keep these interactions confidential exists. It's a dead end.

The only way this will get anywhere is with the ongoing special investigation.

Meanwhile, I wish we could actually be doing something active about Russia's election interference operation.

Well, it would explain some of the info that could only have come from a compromise of Kislyak -> Moscow comms. Also, no harm in "burning" that source as it was likely gone as soon as Trump & Co. started getting TS/SCI briefings.

What can be done about it is for some of the people caught up in Trump's raving to wise up. The Russians weren't doing us any favors by enabling his campaign.

He was trying to waste time the whole hearing. His "qualifiers" were mostly irrelevant. He would answer Harris' questions and she was ready to move on and he'd bring up some other unrelated bullshit to draw it out.

She asked about the specific DOJ policy he was citing for not answering questions. He started to go on a tangent about how other cabinet officials testified. She interrupted and again asked about the specific policy and whether it was in writing. He said he thought so. She asked if he had not reviewed it before testifying. He started to tell her the principle the policy was based on. She interrupted and said she wasn't interested in the principle. He clammed up and refused to answer, people intervened, he finally went on and on about the principle and her time was up.

It was clear that she was basically wanting him to cite the exact policy so she could get a copy of it and it was equally clear that he was trying not to give that to her.

The Trumpist line on yesterday's hearing was basically that Sessions's answers were brilliant, his memory perfect, his wit sharp and all concerns about the Russian ties are completely and totally put to rest. If you watched and don't recall any of that, and instead recall a stammering, nervous man who inexplicably refused to answer many questions and really only did well when being propped up by a friendly Republican senator. Well..Fake News!

Truth is no longer even an issue. Trump is perfect, no Russian meddling, greatest President ever. There is no lie too big. If the Great Wall of Mexico is never built, which of course it won't be, in a couple of years Trump will simply say it was built, and his supporters will say the Wall exists, and it's the greatest wall. And you can show them pictures of the Mexican border where there is no wall, and they'll say. Well...Fake News!

This Administration, one based on authority, don't need formal judgments of innocence. They don't even need a majority to support them. They just need a majority to not care enough to stop them.

WaPo is reporting that Mueller is now directly investigating whether or not Trump was attempting to obstruct justice. Apparently subpoened some WH officials or some such to testify.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...e02506-5131-11e7-b064-828ba60fbb98_story.html

Coats, the DNI, Rodgers, head of the NSA, and Ledget, the former deputy under Rodgers at the NSA have agreed to interviews.

it's official, Trump is under investigation.

obstruct justice once, shame on you, obstruct justice twice, shame on us, obstruct juctice three or more times, impeachment time.

i'll take 5 sources as fact, you can question it if you like.

also, Trump's lawyer's representative didn't deny it, just attacked "FBI leaks"
