Even if Stone conspired with Assange or the Russians to provide the Trump campaign with illegally obtained information it doesn't even approach the level of malfeasance already proven against Manafort. From the beginning it was clear the only thing that would save Manafort from a very looong stretch was a pardon or commutation of sentence. For a 69 year old guy, 20 years or 200 is no difference. Stone really isn't facing that level of retribution so a plea could do him some good if he has no faith in his old friend Trump. I mean, who would unless they had no choice?

Convicted former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos has publicly contradicted Attorney General Jeff Sessions' sworn testimony to Congress, saying both Sessions and Donald Trump apparently supported his proposal that Trump meet with Vladimir Putin during the 2016 campaign, according to a court filing late Friday night.
"While some in the room rebuffed George's offer, Mr. Trump nodded with approval and deferred to Mr. Sessions who appeared to like the idea and stated that the campaign should look into it. George's giddiness over Mr. Trump's recognition was prominent during the days that followed," Papadopoulos' lawyers wrote in a court filing Friday. Papadopoulos' legal team said that he has shared with special counsel Robert Mueller his recollections of the March 31, 2016, meeting.
Sessions, when asked about that meeting under oath, said that he "pushed back" on the idea of the Putin summit. CNN previously reported that Trump "heard him out," according to another adviser in the room, when Papadopoulos proposed the idea and offered to help execute it.

Sessions is the only man standing between Trump and the DOJ. If Papadopoulos can take out Sessions, then you can bet the replacement AG will end the investigations, allow as many pardons as possible, and keep the whole lot of them above the law. It's a get out of jail free card.

Russia never gives up.Yes, and the oligarch who provided the money, who is an associate of Manafort, is also connected to the GRU. How about that, Manafort's campaign chairman was a business associate of a man connected to the Russian intel agency who hacked the DNC and Podesta e-mails.

He did, and then Nixon's party revolted. The only thing that saved the country was when the GOP revolted against their GOP president. Nixon also had something like sub-20% support in the country, and sub-40% support in the party.
Trump commands nearly 90% support in this GOP party of craven asshole traitors. There is absolutely nothing at this point that will convince the Turtle and the Illiterate Middle-school Ayn Rand Fan Club President that Trump needs to go after he axes the DOJ.
