What the Colts need is another Edgerrin James. They can't pass forever, and Addai isn't that great at catching balls out of the backfield. They should have signed Tomlinson.

Agreed, and the #1 pick on Donald Brown was an extreme waste as well. Part of the problem is their line, but I don't think Addai is a great back either.

Boy, it is really funny how well Curtis Painter played last night -- right after they signed Kerry Collins and he is in serious danger of not making the team. Imagine that!

That's motivation for you. I'm less concerned about Kerry Collins. With one big condition: you need him for less than 4 games.

That's my over/under for him getting injured.

Yeah. We watched and kept saying "where the hell has this stuff been?"

Maybe that was the whole reason for bringing him in? Why didn't Kerry play a single down?

Guess who's back,
back again,
Peyton's back (sorta),
tell a friend.

Here’s something that will make Colts fans smile: Indianapolis activated Peyton Manning from the PUP list on Monday.

The four-time MVP will return to practice on a limited basis on Monday.

“He will participate in practice on a limited basis. All of his practice work will be scripted and on a controlled basis,” the Colts said in a statement.

Report: Potential for Manning to miss 4 games

The NFL was set on fire when an Indianapolis radio station reported quarterback Peyton Manning will need an additional surgery on his neck. Well, that isn't true. Yet.

Emphasis on yet. ESPN reported Manning is seeing additional specialists due to the slow healing of his neck. That is accurate.

After speaking to a source on the Colts the team didn't believe Manning would get another surgery. There was, however, a serious concern that Manning was not only going to miss the season opener but the potential was for Manning to miss four or five games. Or more.

Just to be clear: I'm not saying this will happen but there is a great deal of concern about the progress of Manning's healing. It appears to be going far more slowly than the Colts or Manning are saying publicly.

The Colts have been preparing for the worst, I'm told, beginning this week. When Kerry Collins was signed some on the coaching staff always thought Collins would replace Manning for a game or two. Now, that mindset is changing within the team. I can tell you the coaches are preparing for a longer period of life without Manning. They are hoping for the best but now fearing the worst.

So, for now, no additional surgery for Manning. But this is starting to look extremely dicey.

This is starting to look very bad for Manning.

This year is different. The Colts O-Line is a bit different this year, and hasn't been looking all that great. If I were the coach, I'd *want* Peyton to be 100% or sit.

No such thing as 100% as a football player.

Well looks like Kerry Collins will definitely be playing at least 2-3 weeks, mark it.

Some interesting stats on Mike and Mike this morning:

Since Peyton Manning has started for the Colts (every game until this week) every team in the NFL has started at least 3 quarterbacks. The Bears have started 17 in the same time span, SEVENTEEN QB's in the time the Colts have played 1.

The Colts have made it to the playoffs every year since Peyton was their QB except for 2, his rookie year and the infamous Jim Mora "PLAYOFFS!!!" year.

There was a lot of other interesting stats but I don't remember them

Good god if true:

The latest on Colts QB Peyton Manning. Jake Query, a radio host on WNDE in
Indianapolis is reporting that sources are telling him that Peyton Manning
is out for the year.

Query posted this on his twitter feed today:

"What I (Query) said: A source I consider reliable told me he is out for the
season. I do believe that the actual diagnosis is still being determined"

Query then followed that with: "I (Query) was also told the 3rd procedure has
taken place, either Sun or Monday."

Understand that this is not official by any stretch. This is a radio host in
Indianapolis (that I don't know much about) saying this is what his sources
are telling him.

It certainly fits with the worse case scenarios we've been envisioning but it
should be stressed that we have no facts or words from the Colts to back this up.
It's also worth noting that the Colts and Bill Polian are going to be the absolute
last people on earth to tell us this.

My gut feel is that I'd positively let someone else take the chance on Manning at
just about any price right now. I know some are saying now is the time to scoop
him up for pennies. I'm not one of those guys.

This is perhaps not related in any way shape or form, but I think it's worth
understanding that Peyton's older brother, Cooper, quit football after it was
discovered he had a congenital spine issue. I'm NOT saying Peyton has the same
issue. But I am saying Cooper's issue is something he thinks about as he plans
his future. It would be impossible for it not to be considered for him.

Thanks to Footballguy Andy Binder for the headsup on this news.

As a die hard colts fan, it doesn't look good. Colts are probably the lightest lipped team regarding injuries. I'm thinking the rumors of out 3-4 weeks of season have merit.

You also said Chris Johnson was going to be out for at least 3-4 games...

No I didn't, I said he'll miss some games its just a question of how many. I was wrong.

Here I am not, wouldn't be surprised if Peyton is out at least 3-4 games, even more.

There was a report from an Indy radio station yesterday where the guy said he had a "good source" that said Manning is gone for the season. I don't believe it (yet), but the way I look at it is that if it does happen, maybe this will move the Colts far enough up in the draft that they can draft Manning's successor.

Andrew Luck sweepstakes?

Heard this morning on the radio that Irsay tweeted that number 18 was going to be out for a while.
