infinity speakers

In the next couple of months i'm possibly planning on buying a surround system. I don't want to get a kit, i prefer to piece together one myself. After testing some speakers out i'm pretty focused on infinity's cascade line up. I just don't know which ones to get. Or rather placement of speakers, should this set be in the front, rear, etc..

I want a 5.1 setup, the speakers i've been looking at are the cascade 5, cascade 7, and cascade 3. Obviously i need a good set of front speakers, and a good set of rear speakers for starters.

I have very picky ears. I've sampled around and the infinity's too me are more of my taste interms of sound quality and performance. Its just always difficult for me to pick a set because of all the choices.

So you're looking at spending a minimum of like $2500 on speakers/sub alone?

Looking at your listed options, it seems like you'd be better off using a pair of Cascade 3s as your fronts, and then 5s as your center and surrounds.

I agree, but if the 3s could be put on stands I would use em for the fronts and surrounds as they are better in the lower freq. But being short you would have to get decent stands so the 5s are better cosmetically for the rears.

BTW, I am an Infinity man myself. Been using Infinity speakers on all my systems for decades. Even their cheaper (sub $100) speakers I have been using everyday at work for over 16 years and they still kick.

I have a pair of RS5s that I use for side surrounds. They're surprisingly good considering their age. I actually used them as fronts for a while until I got my PSBs.

Good point, out of coincidence i was thinking about this as a decent setup. The center speaker i was thinking about using the cascade 3 model c?' I think thats what its called. I know its a horizontal speaker. And the sub, well thats still being planned. I just wanted to make sure i have an idea of a good setup.
