TBH I typically inflate to sidewall or close, but it really depends on the car. My old car said 35, so I would put 30. My current car says 25, but if I put 25 it looks like I have a flat, it's just not enough. So I put 30 and I'm good. Tire blowouts due to overinflating are no joke though... I kinda wish there was a way to put the air hose on it without having to hold it, so I could initiate pressure form a distance.

I imagine the max they put on there is rather conservative though, and takes actual driving into account, probably not going to blow just sitting there.

You're as dumb as fleabag.

I have to fill my tires about 5 psi over spec (32) during summer in my Chevy Cruze, or the low tire pressure warnings will go off during winter.
I check my tires once a month throughout the year and adjust as needed. I guess you're a once a year kind of guy?

Wassamater here is everybody smarter than the engineers that designed the cars and tires?

i tried inflating over the recommended amount this summer/fall and it helped MPGs a few percent

debating on whether or not to continue it in the winter though

That is not to sidewall, that is to sticker on car. Sidewall refers to the tire's sidewall "max psi"

Damn necros.

I just let my car tell me when they need air.

Don't get me started on TPMS. Fucking Honda Odyssey doesn't care if you cloned the ID of the RFID. Every time I swap sets I have to reset the TPMS. But no button to do so, have to go to tire shop to have them do it.

what kind of car has 25 pound? maybe a bike? i inflate to close to limit, if you do less you will get better ride less bumps, more air will give you better gas mileage. If you inflate with nitrogen it holds better in all temp but ive never personally used nitrogen in my tires ;P

Not on the 2012. No option. No button.

No tpms button on left side of dash? my internet is limited but i see 2011 honda insite on youtube getting its sensor reset. surely there is a system of holding break turning knobs if no button.

No... I'm more of a "check them when the low tire pressure warning goes off" kind of guy

I found that if I set them to about 36 PSI in late summer, they would only drop to 30 in the dead of winter. At that point, it's 5 degrees outside with a -10 wild chill and you DO NOT want to be standing outside with an air compressor!

I think that they recommended 32 in my old Cruze, so I really wasn't all that far off.

My new Mustang's air pressure seems to fluctuate from 34 in summer to 30 in winter, which isn't as bad as the Chevy was. That said, I try to leave that car parked this time of year.

Old Miatas had 26 pounds.

Overinflated tires cause crappy handling.
