...but shouldn't you inflate to the PSI that's listed on your door frame?
Yes, you should.
The tire manufacturer doesn't know what car a particular tire is going to be installed on....weight, usage, etc.
So they simply give you the specs. Weight bearing capacity, and max/min PSI.

That in no way means those PSI's are correct for your particular car, they are just the min/max PSI that particular tire is allowed to have and still be within spec.
The same tire on a small SUV will perform better with a lower PSI than it would on a full-sized truck that weighs more, and vice-versa.

I'll give an extreme example: Drag racing slicks. The ones on my drag truck, I typically run at about 7psi. However, the max PSI on the sidewall is like 60 or 70. That sure as hell doesn't mean you're supposed to run them at that PSI or they'd perform well. It's really just for installation and seating them on the bead.
Not necessarily the case for regular car tires, but you get the point: Sidewall PSI is simply the "max spec", not what you should be running. Unless you don't like your kidneys and enjoy the beating they're going to take while riding around on max PSI.

That was like the golden age of trolls. Fleabag, Alkemyst, Tridentboy, and there were like 3 others. Oh CasioTech. I think even PAB came back and he was like max douche level from the start.

i always go about 25psi over sidewall, that way if i ever run over a nail i have extra time to get to jiffy lube so they can fix it. *taps noggin*

just make sure you use nitrogen instead of plain old air like the peasants do

I don't even know where I would get that and the required compressor to pump it into the tire, I just use air, but it's fresh northern Ontario air, city people would kill for this stuff.
