Info about the CC $100 TiVo Rebate

Just got a letter today from CC that says my rebate #8426 was out of the date range of the rebate. Clearly says 9/5 to 9/10 on rebate I have, printed out with receipt. My receipt is dated 9/9. Called Customer Service and a automated answering system says if this happens to fax a copy of the receipt with the File # to Harvey Depravo at (804) 780-0430. Just thought I would get this info to you so you can be prepared to whatever CC will try. I would have posted this in the Brad and Moan section, but I know that there were hundreds of Andandtechers that got in on this deal and this is probably a better solution. Mod's please don't lock...

I know TiVo has one till the end of the year, $100.
Can a person get both.
I've been looking at getting a TiVo.

This is referring to the 3 $100 rebates, 2 from CC and one from TiVo.

Did you go for the two CC $100 rebates that seemed to be legitimate at the time (separate promo numbers with overlapping rebate dates)?

Saw a $100 rebate at Costco last week for Tivo's 30 hour model.

Make sure you follow the instructions and call in.
Hit Option 3
Then hit the option for "out of purchase date period" or something
like that (its option 2)
LIsten to the entire message then it will ask you if you want
to listen again or talk to a rep. (option 2) Select 2 to
talk to a rep. I did, I told the guy many of us were getting
bogus letters. He typed in my file number and said to
disregard the letter. I will get my rebate in 2 to 3 weeks.

Just in case, I'm going to fax the a letter and a copy of my
stuff and note the person who told me to disregard.

Yep, same here!

I got the denial letter this morning and was pissed all day long... Anyway, I got just got home a few minutes ago and I immediately called CC. To my great surprise, the guy said, paraphrazing, "Sorry about that sir, you WILL be receiving your rebate. It should arrive in two to three weeks."

So, this is great! I will, after all, be getting my Tivo for free! (Not counting the $15 in tax...)

I spoke with a Jason (CSR) and he said ignore the letter also. I should get rebate in 2 to 4 weeks.

Now, being the pessimist that I am, I'll bet we still don't receive the 2nd $100 tivo rebate on the other rebate program #. Please prove me wrong CC!

Regarding the Tivo... I worked out pretty soon after buying it that you could perform a full factory reset and then get 2 weeks or more of the tv guide for free. I did this 3 or 4 times in a row and so never needed to shell out $10 month for their 'service.'

Anyway, the last time I tried it, it failed. I now have no tv listings (yet still get the dumb 'call this number' message every time I click a freakin button).

Seems that the thing is pretty sucky without the service, but there's no way I'm going to pay that much. If if was $50 for a lifetime or something I'd be okay about it, but not at the current rates.

Anyway, I think I'm going to sell mine on fleaBay and pick up a tv tuner card and use my PC for the same task as the Tivo performed.

Just wondering what the rest of you think of Tivo/the service/tv cards.

I got one of my $100 rebates earlier this week. I'm hoping the other 2 will arrive soon

If you did receive this notification letter it may be a good idea to call in and talk to customer service. My CS person made a comment about updating my file which means you may have to dispute the letter to get it corrected. They may be trying to "accidentally-on-purpose" not fulfill rebates.

I think you will be pleasently surprised. I verified that I have two $100 rebates for my TiVo...one will be sent Nov 2 and the other "in three or four weeks."

I love the TiVo service. Granted, $200 is a lot of the lifetime, but it is nice to have it find and record all programs of a given type that I ask for, and even guess and download those that I did not. I now understand what the inane commercials are referring to when they speak of "programing your own network." We can sit down at anytime and have plenty to watch between Friends, Cheers, Simpsons, Frazier, movies, football, etc. I like it.

I'm glad I got the tivo the best thing I could have done and the $199 for lifetime is great! No more having to pay for TV Guides! The upgrade is easy too 14hr now is a 92hr. With out the extra $100 rebate I would have bought it.

Tharpertx, the CC rebate hotline gave me the same information on my two $100 rebates. Both are being processed. Now about the rebate from TiVo for the service...

I received one CC promo 8585 rebate yesterday. Didn't want to rock the boat with a phone call if others were receiving all CC promos.

I just got the #8585 rebate the other day. I was told the #8426 rebate would follow in a few weeks. I have not seen the rebate from TiVo yet.

I received both of these (8426 about three or four weeks ago, the 8585 two weeks ago), but I haven't heard anything from TiVo about their $100. Has anyone called to follow up?

Same here. Got #8585 a week ago. Waiting for #8426 and TiVo rebates. TiVo says 6-8 weeks for receipt of rebate check. Now it's been 9 weeks. One more week and I am calling 1-888-519-1127.

$100 Rebate #8426 is now paid! (Check in the mail came yesterday.)

I'm now down to about $50 paid for the hardware (two $100 rebates and a $50 pricematch), and waiting for the last shoe to drop: $100 rebate from TiVo for the service.
