Tunk, when / how did you do this exactly? I assume the 25 per cent deal you mentioned was the Dell coupon that expired recently (unfortunately most sites neglected to mention it would expired after a certain number of redemptions, as Dell coupons often do)? Did you speak with someone the 'phone or via online chat? Why did they give you 30 per cent, rather than 25?

just pulled the trigger on the 2209WA. talked with Angela; and got it for 212 plus tax. Also talked with her about returns and quality control, and she said she has received a call back on one unit so far; also said they have 21 day return policy if i didn't like it. I explained that i needed a new monitor for my work station and IT gave me a crappy one, and from a forum i go to (anand's lol), they recommended the 2209WA with the newer panels. Go easy; she explained that the 212 cost was focused towards businesses, but she was willing to work with me to get everything set up. Good luck.

Winterpool, Sorry took so long to respond. But like Lalakai and scwtlover, just talk to a representative on Dell's chat. I just told them that I tried over the weekend to use the dealnews coupon of 25 percent off but it hadn't work and the rep went to talk to the supervisor who was in charge of sales and he came and hooked me up. Don't know why he gave me a 30 percent off instead of the 25% i requested though. Guess it was my lucky day!!

But from what I've been reading here and on other forums, the Dell reps are pretty flexible.

I'm getting mine on the 11th!! I'm excited, but keeping my fingers cross still.

Well I got my monitor, two days after I placed the order. After using it for a couple of weeks I am very satisfied. Colors look great. Lots more room for Lightroom. I profiled my monitor using Spyder2Express. Not much change over the stock settings. Originally I thought I was noticing a magenta shift, but I think it was from using the monitor for a couple days without profiling. Overall an excellent deal!

Apparently the deal is still good, just ordered directly from Angela.

$212 + $16.11 tax = $228.11 shipped! Seems like it'll be a fantastic monitor.

I just got mine yesterday. I'm bummed, I bought a spyder3 elite for no reason! haha......I guess i can use it for my other monitors. And damn you guys don't have to pay for disposal fee? Cali tacked on an extra 15 bucks!! And still I haven't have a clue how to get rid of my old monitor.

Just how bad is the lack of 1:1 pixel mapping if I plan on playing games that run at 1024 x 768 on it?

I take it back, i'm using spyder3 elite and recalibrated it. It turns out the monitor is a bit overly saturated and vibrant which is a good thing for regular consumer I suppose, but I worked with spyder and it recalibrating to the standard 22 6500k, much less vibrant but much better. Schadenfroh As for the 1:1 mapping, hmmm....yeah i heard about that issue but can't you just crop it off to the ratio 4:3. It's in the option button of the monitor. But I'm not sure if you want to crop off the realistate, but I suppose that might be an option.

Are there any Canadians here who have bought this monitor yet? What prices have you guys been finding? My campus computer store is selling this for $314, and I was wondering if anyone else had found a better deal than that.

This monitor sounds too good to be true. A few months ago I got sick of my TN 22" screen and bought a new HP LP2275w, 22" S-PVA panel, for $560 (USD). Now all of a sudden there is a panel that is supposedly as good, for less than half the price? Not possible, I say. For starters, my screen has a 92% color gamut, while this Dell appears only to be 82%. I'm curious if anyone has compared the two screens side by side? I will check the screen out next time I'm at the Dell Kiosk (over 15 mile drive from me), but I don't except it to be better than my HP.

Look at their list of "Best 5 LCD monitors". Note that they specifically say:

The five LCD monitors listed below represent our favorite productivity-minded flat panels, regardless of screen size. Odds are you're shopping for a flat-panel display with a particular size (and budget) in mind, so use the models here as benchmarks for alternatives you may be considering. And check out the lists to the left for the top LCDs by screen size.

So in their opinion, those 5 (before they tested the LP2275W) were the best regardless of price, and should be considered reference models.

I'm not knocking the LP2275W, it was a great addition to the 22" class. But, it is still just a wide gamut PVA, and unfortunately couldn't quite top the L220X that really set the benchmark back then.

CNET on the other hand...David Katzmaier is all they have now. If CNET reviews something, and he didn't write it, you can safely ignore it.

Just got three of these.

I also happened to get them as I was building a desk in my office.

The viewing angle on the 2209wa is freaking awesome.

Color reproduction is great, but I'm coming from a 3 year old TN, so anything is great compared to that, lol.

Check out some pics:

I have the file but no way to host. If you want it, PM me your email. You can use it w/o the hardware.

lol wtf....it's not even an ips panel.

it's not even a CRT, C-Net has been around for a long time, and if they honestly find a lower end LCD to be better than any CRT even. It's safe to say you should never read another word they say, ever.
