Information about "Ukulele Hughes" needed.

I know this is a long shot, but I am running out of ideas. Is there anybody who has heard of this person or knows where I can get more information about him?

Here is what I have so far.

E. S. Hughes (first name may be Elmer)
Played the Ukulele in the early 1920's
Was once married to a lady named Betty

Here are the songs I know he has played:
1. I miss my swiss
2. The Farmer took another load away
3. Oh boy, what a girl
4. Look who's here
5. Dreams of long ago

I have found his picture on the internet, but have not found any additional information.

Ukulele.org has been some help and provided me with a picture, though they are interested in finding more information about Ukulele Hughes as well.

Ukuleles.com makes vague reference to Ukulele Hughes.

I don't know for sure. I know he did a lot of traveling in the US and that he also played in Germany.

If I were looking for someone like this, I'd head for the Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. (of course, it's local for me) They have amazing archives and information, and if you're lucky you can find a person who knows how to search that stuff.

I would love to have access to a place like that. Unfortunately, that is a bit far from me.

I am looking for Ukulele Hughes because my family used to be friends with his wife Betty about 20 years ago. She had given us one of his Ukulele's to us. We are working on putting his story together to donate with the Ukulele to a museum. The problem is that even though he was quite famous in his time. There is not much available about him on the internet. My mother is in AZ & I am in OK, and we are both researching this.
