I joined ING about 3 years ago I think, back when it was like 2.75 - 3% for the savings account. Their service has been great.

You get paid interest monthly but of course it it not 2.25%/month. It's 2.25% / year.

there use to be some easy $50 sign up bonuses, it was just sign up and u are ready to go. dont seem to find those anymore.

I think ING got a lot of sign ups through those.

I have gotten my sister and 4 friends to sign up for ING. Word of mouth is a powerful tool.

I think ING can offer the high rates because they dont have many physical banks, lower cost as a result.

I did finally see a bank in Montreal, but never found one in the US.

It is great for the extra cash you have so you can save it with no risk.

There might be better ones and if anyone knows of any, that would be great to share.

I've considered doing that too but I ran the numbers but it turned out the gain was minimal all things considered.

I like the sounds of this, but there has to be some catch... or some reason that they can offer such higher interest rates than other banks, only thing I could come up with so far is that they don't have ATMs?

I acutally put like 7K in a 0% CC, but it really isnt worth it because of after taxes and also hurts ur credit due to high credit balances.
