Super hot especially since you get $25 for opening an account.
Edit:
To get the $25 for opening an account, you need to get an email from an existing member. PM me with your full name and email if you need one.
I feel that it's only fair for me to state again that the above statement is not necessarily true. I got $25 when i signed up and I wasn't referred.
That said, it may be easier to do through an emailed referral rather than goggle a code or what have you (I think I got an offer in the mail with the offer code).
I swear, if some people who are so eager to give referrals applied that energy towards something like thier job or mowing the neighbors' lawsn or something they coudl easily make a lot more money.
It's an AnandTech thing...welcome to the Forums. Us members work together to help one another. You choosing to not use an existing AT member to help them with a referral shows your "newness" around here. We have a long history of helping each other out in any way possible! That's why this forum is big as it is. Sure, we have a number of Aholes, but we have an even bigger number of friendly, helpful people who ban together to create this fine forum be it a Hot Deal, computer advice or even to sell our unused hardware.
It's the AnandTech Magic!
I opened the account before I joined AAT, or when I was so new I wasn't part of the community yet.
After participating in many trades, and taking advantage of a hot deal or two I too feel the sense of community. All things equal yeah why not throw $10 the way of a fellow member. But at the same time I felt that I was sticking up for the thousands of members who might not want to do a referral.
I think that the use of referrals is good. But I don't want my fellow anandtech members to be mislead. The way so many people are announcing the availablity of referrals just seems kind of tacky to me. I'd be happy to refer anyone, but if you feel that someone else is more deserving, or you don't feel like being referred, or you want $50 instead of $25, that's fine too. That's the only point I was trying to make.
And yeah I've been "one of those Aholes" more than once (like when I foudn out what "DIAF" meant). I've also had a few interactions with members that were really heart warming.
Whatever, people can do what they want. The point is, if you want $25 for opening an account with ING direct, you are not required to be referred by someone. To me truth is very important.
