I know this is a newb question, but when does the interest apply to the account? I know it says APY...does that mean you only see an increase after a year? Help or flame...preferably the former!

Yes, they pay you at midnight on the 1st of the month. You can also see running total of the interest paid for the current month. They also show a running total of how much interest you have earned for the year.

FYI, the Paypal money market has no fees or minimums, and pay 3.28% right now. These funds are just your normal Paypal balance, so you can spend it online or use the Paypal debit card. Unlimited free (slow-4 day) bank transfers. It is also the largest money market fund in the WORLD, so you know its safe even if its not FDIC insured.

gives 3.75% APR

High yield MM. no min. 3.40%APR and $25 bonus for fund before Aug 31.

anyone want to share their experiences with the above mentioned banks? how do they compare to ing?

I have a UFBdirect.com HYMM account and they deposited my $25 sign up bonus within a month of opening the account, and added my deposits within a day of them receiving them. They have since raised my interest rate which is awesome and they deposit my interest on time as always.

One thing that sucks is their website, its very slow and doesn't work well with FireFox.

I also have my ATM card with PIN number mailed to me a month after my account was opened, and they reimburse for ATM fees.

Why does presidential not show up on bankrate when you tell it to list internet banks with interest checking? Bank of Internet has the highest APY for interest checking according to them. Which I know is wrong because theirs is 3.0.

I don't think ING counts as an internet checking account. It is purely a savings account. You have to transfer your money to another account to have access to it. CU...PM me with any other questions.

I noticed that too -- been that way for a couple years. On Presidential webiste they advertise that they were rated #1 by Bankrate in 2003 and 2001. Maybe they don't get along with bankrate for some reason now.
