i love ing but these interest rates are rising pretty fast considering they are reach the risk free rate very soon. I dont know if people are even interested in MM or CD anymore since they can just place their money into ING or Emigrant.

any takes on this?

Jeez, I HATE to be their shill, but I use Discover Bank (Discovercard)
as their rates are up there and they have CD's that I can ladder too.
FDIC on the MM of course
Seems like they make ING and Emigrant hardly worth the trouble

Um, yeah, I'll dump my money market accounts for a 3.15% ING account. NOT!

Decent rate, but not earth-shattering. You can do a lot better.

Assuming a balance of $5,000 or more. Details like that would be good to disclose.

Discover's minimum for a MM account is $2,500 but the rate for a balance under $5,000 is only 2.75%. To beat 3.15% you'll need a balance of at least $10,000 with Discover.

Only 3.35% for a $50K Discover MM account. So why is this a better deal than Emigrant's 3.5%?

http://www.ufbdirect.com/ufbdirect/
High yield MM. no min. 3.40%APR and $25 bonus for fund before Aug 31.

anyone want to share their experiences with the above mentioned banks? how do they compare to ing?

I have my checking with Presidential. 3.5% on my freakin CHECKING, free online billpay, etc. But you need $1K min and I have a $201 monthly electronic deposit.

I have savings with ING and EmigrantDirect. Emigrant is a little higher APR but their interface is horrible. ING has lower APR but very nice and easy interface.

I use ING to suck money from my local credit union, where my money never stays more than 2 days (til it gets transferred to ING). From ING I transfer it to either Emigrant Direct (for longer term savings) or to Presidential (for checking).

Been doing this for awhile (been with ING since they started online) and reap pretty decent interest from all 3 accounts.

ING definitely has nicest website and is easiest to get money to and from local credit union. But I keep most money (up to $25K) in Presidential checking account at 3.5%.

The Chinese are starting to float their currency against the dollar. Rates should be rising. Stay in the MM.

Presidential is wierd

You have to maintain a $5000 minimum balance to avoid fees
and if you save over $35k, then they lower your APY to 2.62!

What kind of a bank pays you LESS when you save MORE ?

Way screwed up, if you ask me

Presidential = no fees if you have > $200 in electronic deposit monthly (i.e. from ING)

and the 3.75% is a sort of teaser up to $25K, which is about all I keep in checking anyway

Does ING work with Quicken/Money?

Also, how long does it take to initiate transfer to/from the ING account?

I concur that ING is the bomb.

I just checked.. They got downloads for Quicken and Money.

To be safe I give it about 7 days to see the money move.

This Ing rate is a joke. Emmigrant.com, same as internet bank style as Ing, is 3.5%. Corus Bank 3.65%, REsource Bank is 3.67%. Avoid Ing. Check Bankrate.comfor best rates before you invest.

hey guys, if you're in california, wamu right now has a nice deal (at least had a few weeks ago)
ask for their promo liquid cd rate. for > $50k, it's 3.74, 3.8 apy. little bit less for $30k, like 3.6 something.

liquid cd is nice because it's liquid. like, withdraw and deposit as you wish, with restrictions of course, min $5k (unless you want to close it out). maturity in 10 months. link with platinum checking account for free

I know ING has nice CD rates and if you need the money in an emergency you can withdrawl it and you'll get 1/2 the interest.

I think that deal you're referring to is gone, otherwise I would have been interested. This is what I found for WAMU in CA:

Liquid CD - California 10 Month Term
Opening Balance Interest Rate Annual Percentage Yield (APY)
$5,000 - $9,999 2.57% 2.60%
$10,000 - $24,999 2.57% 2.60%
$25,000 - $49,999 2.81% 2.85%
$50,000 - $99,999 2.86% 2.90%
$100,000 + 2.86% 2.90%
Rates effective 08/14/2005
