damn, if I switch from ING to HSBC I will get about $50 more per month. DAMN YOU ING for not keeping up with everyone else's interest rate!
I used this:
$my$ x .0505 /12 = about $50 more per month (over a full 12 months period) than I get from ING.

Couldn't you just write a check directly from your current money market account into the new HSBC account if you so choose? That way you wouldn't lose interest.

If you're in a high "state income tax" state, Treasury Bills might be your answer!

HSBC sits on top w/ 5.05%

Just decided to try HSBC . . . they need the login information for your personal checking account in order to add money. What a joke. I'll stick with ING.

???? No they dont. Just opened an account with them. I have been with ING for a year and they are now falling to far behind to stay with them.

GMAC Bank - 5.10%, $500 minimum. They've treated me well so far and their rates have been following the others up. 5.05 a few weeks ago, 4.75 a couple months ago.

Money appears to go in next-day once you've got an account linked. Free Visa (check/atm?) card, and a couple books of checks. Haven't tried to transfer any out yet, but you should be able to easily write yourself a check or take it out with the VISA.

It's a MMA though so be aware of the 3-6 withdrawl per month limit (without penalites)

Maybe I'm crazy then . . . but to put money into the account I had to provide my bank's login info in order to make a direct transfer. I immediately changed my bank's login afterward. Just tried putting more $ in the HSBC and I get an error message that the account cannot be "verified" - meaning the transfer wouldn't go through because the login info they saved for my bank account was no longer valid. I had to enter my new login to get the money out.

ING has never needed my personal banking login to transfer money - I'll just stick with them knowing that my bank login isn't out there so someone can clean out my bank account.

Dont quite undstand how your setup with them but as soon as your transfer between banks is setup minus any extra login info from your linked bank it just works, Ive never been asked by any bank for other banks login info.

I have to admit Ive been unhappy with ING's raising of their rates as I also have a HELOC with them and of coarse they raise that the full Fed rate hike but when it comes to giving you more money they only give you .10 of the Fed Hike in the last 6 months.

Using the HSBC online savings account I linked my checking account. In order to add/remove money they require my checking account login. Makes absolutely no sense. In any case I'm so tired of talking about and dealing with it that I have the minimum of $1 in there and will close the account after 6 months since they won't waive the $25 fee to do so.

I would give emigrantdirect a try then. I was going to go with HSBC until I saw Emigrant went to 5.15% You really should look somehwere else other then ING now that they have not kept up for such a long period of time.

Poisonthewell:
When you set up the HSBC online savings account, you are given three options to fund it.
#1) Directly fund it from your checking account. (It's the fastest but they will ask for login and password to verify ownership of the account.
#2) Fund your HSBC account through your checking account with ownership verification done by two small deposits that HSBC will deposit into your checking account within 3 business days. You would then login to the HSBC account and verify those deposit amounts. Your account would then be created and you would be sent information in the mail so you could begin funding the account fromyour other banks account. (No login/password info needs to be given in this method).
#3) Send a check to HSBC to fund your account.

I did the method #2 as I think most people did. I would not give my login ID/password info either.
