I have a HSBC account and I'm in the process of transferring the bulk of my saving from ING to HSBC simply because of the rate differential.
However, in terms of speed and web presentation I still prefer ING over Emigrantdirect or HSBC (yes, I have all 3 acct).
Take account opening for example, I was up and running in 2-3 days with ING. With both Emigrant and HSBC, it took about a month to get account ready (both places requires mailing of password and acct # separately thru snail mail and re-opening an account after the initial online application).
And after jumping thru all the hoops in opening HSBC, you have to do it again in order to link checking acct and begin transfering money (wait for another set of deopsit verification).
But 4.25-3.8 = .45%, so in the end money wins!
