All my friends liked it, so I guess I suck.

How could you not find COL Landa interesting? The man was a true movie villain, through and through. The others were good as well, but to me he stood out particularly well.

This movie looks so good that I am thinking of seeing it alone.

So it is a comic book movie...

Again, if you have an unsatisfied desire to kill Nazis or to watch Nazis being killed, play RTCW and imagine that you are being Brad Pit.

Great classic Tarantino movie, Brad Pitt's italian accent (and his accent in general) was hilarious, and the movie had a decent ending I thought.

I was sorta surprised that Landa didn't see that coming at the end though...

I saw the movie today, not bad.

Questions for those the know the languages: do they speak correct French, German, Italian dialect/tone in the movie? I hate it when The Green Beret with John Wayne, they pretend to speak Vietnamese and it was awful.

Spoilers - why the SS Major knew the Captain was faked? something about 3 glasses of scott, I did not understand and I do not understand why Col. Landa let that little girl ran away.

Col. Landa disappointed me at the end. I thought he would be hard core to the end as that Sgt (the one got bashed by the basball bat).

germans use their thumb/index/middle fingers to indicate 3. the captain used his index/middle/ring fingers.

Great movie, but I do have problems with the ethics/morals of the movie. Not that I'm a bible thumper, but the most atrocious acts in the movie were committed by the "good guys." Now, the movie could be clever commentary on who or what a hero is, but this layer of irony, running throughout, made it difficult for me to thing of the characters (other than Soshonna) anything but stick figures/ "types." I also didn't get to know the individual basteds at all, which would have been nice.

I think I wanted a 6 hour long movie

I agree. Sure, I would have liked some more character development, but he only had so much time. Could it have been a trilogy? Probably.

Col Landa is Austrian, and von Hammersmark is German, so yes those two were speaking whatever German their character required. My German isn't good enough to recognize all of the different accents for sure, but they were all speaking "good" german, in that it was clearly intelligible and grammatically correct. My dad's German (Bavarian) on the other hand...can't understand a word. I didn't hear any Bavarian in the film.

Not a Tarantino fan in general but I thought the movie was hilarious. The guy playing Landa as well as Pitt were very good.

Still it was very good: the sudden violence was a nice cap to the scenes involving threatening talks. As far as movies released this year, I think I'd still put The Hurt Locker above this one.

I felt the same way. Some good tense moments in this one. But yeah I'd put 'The Hurt Locker' and 'In the Loop' before this one... but it's still a very good movie.

Edited to remove spoilers.

They explained why he gave himself away......you'll catch it next time you watch it if you do. No inside knowledge needed.

Again, great movie. Even if you wait for BRD, DVD, rental....please pay your viewing. If we dont reward the good filmmakers, all we are going to get are Terminator 2, Spiderman, Hulk, etc.

SPOILER:

The Captain signaled for three glasses of scotch using a different hand gesture then the Germans usually do. Not sure which one was German, but you can signal the number three using your pinky, ring, middle or with your index, middle, ring. The Captain used the wrong gesture and that's how the SS dude knew he wasn't German.

EDIT: Now I remember, the German gesture was with your thumb, index, and middle fingers.

BTW those pressure sensitive fist guns were freaking badass, I loved how they executed their plan.

just got back from this. I like Tarrinto movies and the like. This movie was "meh" at best. Good? Yeah... I'll give it "good" and nothing more. Without Pitt it would have been horrendous, and sadly you saw 95% of the good Pitt scenes in trailers and teasers and the like. The "high tension" scenes are what Tarrinto excels at. Everyone one of his movies does it. And this movie was just full of them from start to finish. Honestly, I wish I would have just rented this one later on. Not "theater quality" in my opinion.

There was 1 walk out though with about 10 mins to go. So that was fun.

I thought it was great. After seeing the shit that was put out in GI Joe and other schlock that my friends keep dragging me too it was a nice breath of fresh air. I like Tarantino, his movies are different from the usual big Hollywood offerings.

So many long drawn-out tense dialogue scenes...definitely a Tarantino movie.

I dislike most Tarantino stuff, but this was more to my liking.

Mélanie Laurent =

As good as it was I think it's probably my least favorite Tarantino movie. Just goes to show what a great filmmaker he is. I don't understand why there can't be more filmmakers like Tarantino out there. It's like no one else out there has any new ideas at all, the rest are just sheep. Even Spielberg and Lucas have proved to lose all of their 'skills' in the past decade. Seems to be less than a handful of great filmmakers these days. Oh well, at least I don't have to spend much money on movies
