Col. Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz) is one of the best villains ever - awesome actor. I"m not a fan of Brad Pitt, but he played his role great in the movie.

Someone asked about accents ... the accents are nearly flawless. Landa speaks authentic german, fluent french and italian with a german accent (as he's supposed to). Goebbel's translator spreaks french with a strong german accent - again, fitting perfectly with her part. Rest assured, the accents are perfect.

"I don't speak any italian"
... "Like I said, third best"

Even though he was entertaining, if Waltz doesn't get an award for his performance it would be a crime. He was INCREDIBLE. Easily one of the best villians I've seen in a movie.

Seconded. But then again, the Academy didn't nominate Bruno Ganz for his potrayal of Hitler in "Downfall" so my guess is they will ignore Waltz as well as "Basterds" was just too "foreign" for them.

Thanks to the fact that many Europeans, be they actors or not, grow up speaking multiple languages. I personally loved listening to Waltz speak.

I find it funny when people say that since a movie has Brad Pitt it must suck. Brad Pitt is a very solid actor and has been great in many awesome movies. I just think people hate on him cus he's a "pretty boy" but he's a very solid actor.

For people thinking it's drawn out, this is Tarantino paying homage to a multitude of FOREIGN FILMS, which tend to be longer and deal more in subtleties than films made for the USA, which generally suck dick.

I liked it. YES, it was long, but it was entertaining pretty much the whole way through so I liked it anyway. The worst part was really the excessive violence. I knew what I was getting into, it being Tarantino and all, but it still squicks me out. My girlfriend had more trouble dealing with it, especially the part where they show a close-up of the guy getting his forehead carved up.
