I've been debating going to see either this movie or district 9. Which movie would you guys recommend that I see, if either?

Wife and I saw it last night..it's good. It does run a little slow in some parts, but that's just how QT draws out scenes and his dialog. The movie was good overall and had some really funny parts in it. It's does have a bit of violence, but again, that's how QT does it.

Brad Pitt was over the top on purpose and it worked. Him speaking eetalian was hilarious as well as most of his other dialog. Good stuff all around.

I'd recommend staying home over seeing District 9 so definitely IB. However, some people have actually really enjoyed D9

D9 is not for everybody but it looks like the majority has spoken. Something about that movie that makes it less permeable for my imagination.

As for IB, I hope to see it tonight

I wonder how the reception of D9 would have been minus all the hype and especially minus Peter Jackson's name.

Great movie. People saying it sucks should go back to watching Transformers and mindless comic-book remakes.

I really enjoyed those long scenes of mind games from the Nazis.. very tense! However waiting for the movie for a long while, as QT talked about it for years and how it would be his masterpiece (is the last line of the movie a self-reference tease of that perhaps?), I think I set the bar way too high.

Still it was very good: the sudden violence was a nice cap to the scenes involving threatening talks. As far as movies released this year, I think I'd still put The Hurt Locker above this one.

I thought it was fantastic. A warning, it was a borderline foreign film, because easily half of the dialogue was subtitled French and German. So if you're not into reading subtitles, then don't go see this film. There were a few unnecessarily brutal parts, but overall it was not as violent as say, Kill Bill. And of course, it was completely over the top. Some suspense of disbelief is necessary, and here's a hint: this film makes no attempts to be historically accurate.

Not for everyone, but if you like Tarantino films, no reason not to like this one.

Not just you, I noticed the similarity too.

I loved it. I was surprised how similar some of it was to Kill Bill. I was also pleasantly surprised about the dialog, it was a typical QT movie- the previews gave me a false impression that it might just be a dumb action movie, but it isn't at all.

Spoilers:

For example, the theater was very similar to the "House of Blue Leaves" from Kill Bill 1. The music was very similar in parts as well.

I didn't know anything about the movie at all, didn't see any trailers or even know it was out. Just tagged along with some friends
Overall, it was a great movie and I got to practice my french.. I liked the long dialogue scenes. It is worth a watch.. I rate it 7.5/10

I wasn't what I thought it would be. But I still enjoyed it. I thought it would be more Basterds and less plotting. Still...classic and solid Tarantino IMO.

I don't understand peoples' fears of Brad Pitt...he's easily one of the most solid and versatile actors out there. Usually those same people also have gut reactions about Johnny Depp and Leo DiCaprio. Both also solid and versatile. All of whom have had a "pretty boy" stages in their careers.

This was an awesome movie. My respect for Tarantino and Pitt went up quite a bit. I'm getting it the first day it comes out on Blu-Ray.

I didn't like it, didn't find the characters compelling/interesting at all except the girl who owned the theatre. The worst part was all the clapping that was going on when all those Nazis were getting killed. It was like they couldn't tell they were being just like the Nazi audience watching Nation's Pride. All my friends liked it, so I guess I suck.

Heh, I mentioned to my cousin that the whole thing was a trick and they were going to burn our theater down. As for not liking it, you don't suck. Different strokes for different folks as they say.

I don't know. I can't remember a Tarantino film I've been less eager to see. Accept for grindhouse which I never saw at all.

I thought it was quite good. Really captures that 70's feel. I still haven't seen Pulp Fiction.

You haven't??? It's pretty much a must see for anyone who likes movies.

Ya, I know, just always seem to miss it when on TV or don't think about it when Renting. One day I'm sure I'll see it.

fail. PF on tv sucks ass, rent it.

I just saw IB, and I must say that it did the following things:

1. satisfied my obsession with the German language spoken by hot German men.
2. satisfied my slightly lower obsession with the french language, spoken by anyone.
3. there were hot Jews (being half jewish and half swiss german, this was odd).
4. they killed nazi's, and that was awesome.

so 9/10 for me. I agree with other posters though, the dialog scenes were fucking tense.

I liked it.

In fact, I thought the scene where Brad Pitt spoke Eyetalian was hilarious. The third "Italian" guy totally cracked me up! He looked like something out of a 30s movie.

I liked Brad Pitt a lot more than I thought I would... this might be my favorite movie of his after Fight Club.
