Story here.

I believe Obama can go the distance. As I've said time and time again, while I disagree with him on several issues, he's shown himself to be the "Agent Of Change". I do believe that he could put together a "working majority" -- as he says -- comprised of disspirited, disillusioned Republicans and Independents. Something along the lines of the Reagan Democrats.

I will not vote for anyone who will further expand the power of the government and decrease the power of the people.

I'd be happy voting for Obama.

it'd be a tough choice for me if it were Obama v McCain, though, and would likely boil down to their running mates.

I don't want to either, but plenty of Republicans would also run on the pro-big government banner.

Plenty? Yes. All? No.

As soon as the republirats decide they will indeed face Obama, there will be many swiftboat plans hatched. My guess is that its going to get vicious as the various interests see all their gains and plans threatened.

Being the front runner may not be all its cracked up to be.

How interesting that their VP choice should matter one bit.

because whoever their VP choices are, it stands to reason that they'd be the presumptive runners after either presidents term, not to mention the fact that they'd be a heartbeat away from the presidency anyways (might be more important in McCain's case, though he's about the same age as Reagan and his faculties seem in significantly better shape than RR's did)

Socialism doesn't work so Obama and Hillary are out. Everyone hates ambulance chasing lawyers so Edwards is out.

It's pretty obvious that a Republican will win in 2008.

In terms of any given candidate's VP choices, its seldom a criteria for voters in the primary process. Simply because the winning nominee only makes the VP choice after they become the nominee. And that is usually the usual final convention event and then on to the general election where the VP is hoped to be an asset but can backfire ala Eagleton also.

Oh dear, well who will be elected? We're not going to elect any of those fascist Republicans either.

You're trying to tell me the Republicans aren't just as bad with socialism?

I hate all politicians. I am just giving you my prediction. But if your point is that the Republican party spending of the last decade is effectively the same as a socialist democrat I can't really disagree with you.

Those two are not the only powers in society, and they're not mutually exclusive.

Government can empower the citizen, protecting him from other private powers, and giving resource to help them where it makes sense; and it can be a force of oppression.

It's wrong and simplistic to lump the government that enforces product safety for consumers, and the government that illegally wiretaps its citizens, in the same lump.

After this next election I feel he won't need to put together a "working majority", he'll have one. The DEMOCRATS.

Pabster -- You're posting thread after thread about Democrats like Hillary and Obama. Why is a dogmatic Bushwhacko neocon sycophant like you the least bit concerned about who the Democratic Party's nominee will be?

I like to wait until late to even look at candidates. What is considered the 'best' site to research each one's stance on the issues? I'm a registered Democrat who voted for Fore in 2000, Bush in 2004, but consider myself pretty much mid-road since I don't fit in either party. Help me make a good decision by pointing me towards some reliable info!

BTW, I'm asking in this thread because Obama intrigued me about a year ago so I have been keeping an eye on his progress.

He's hoping that Obama will be the Dems choice, so that the lingering racism in this country will help keep Obama from being elected president , and rally those to the GOP candidate....

/oh, not so long ago, those voters where asked: "How would you feel if you knew John McCain fathered a black child..."

I lost all respect for McCain because, after he was swiftboated as much as John Kerry and Max Cleland by the same Rove/Bushwhackos to spawned all three campaigns of lies, he stood on that stage and supported Bush's campaign for President.

He didn't have to back Bush. If he was worried about his Republican affiliation, he could have just stood silent and watched. Instead, he whored himself out to them and proved conclusively that he had given up any shred of crediblity or integrity.

Because I'm not a looney left-wing partisan hack?

I care deeply about our Democracy. Not the letters behind someone's name.

And for UberNeuman, get over yourself. If a state like Iowa with less black folks than some cities elsewhere can vote overwhelmingly for a black man, I don't see prejudice playing a part in 2008. I think we've moved far enough ahead in this country, to the point where a black man and/or a woman CAN be President.

Congratulations. You're part of the problem, not the solution.

The fact of the matter is that the next POTUS will need to be able to bring people together on areas of common agreement. The partisan hacks like yourself are precisely why DC has been stuck in gridlock for years now. And the people are becoming more and more turned off by it. Perhaps you forget the fate of Tom Daschle?

Neither am I. I post the truth, and I include links to prove what I say and to disprove your lies. That's something ass sniffing neocon Bushwhacko sycophants like you can't do for one good reason. The facts don't support your bullshit.

Go ahead. No matter how names you call me, repeating the same lies won't make them anymore true.

I care deeply about our Democracy. Not the letters behind someone's name.

You say the words, but you lie with every breath. You blatantly support your TRAITOR IN CHIEF, a facist wanna be Hitler and his wannabe fourth reich as they shred the rights guaranteed to every American citizen under the U.S. Constitution, continue the daily MURDER of American troops in their war of LIES and commit CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY with their TORTURE.

BULLSHIT! If you were any kind of concerned American with any kind of concern about our nation, you'd speak up against such horrific crimes. :|

Continuing to lie and deny the Bushwhackos' crimes despite all the documented evidence against them means either you're one of the lying murderers and traitors, or you're functionally brain dead.

I asked you twice before, and I'll ask it again... Which is it?
