It's pretty obvious that a Republican will win in 2008.

Naturally by obvious you mean it's an incredibly tight race and no one will know who wins until after the election, even though all current polls, pundits and political speculators have indicated it will be very tough, but not impossible, for a republican to win in 2008. But obvious.

The last thing this country needs is another save-the-world man from Hope, Arkansas at the helm.
You are absolutely right. Too many Christians are blind of anything about a candidate besides his CLAIMED faith, as if by virtue of going to church every Sunday he's not otherwise a total incompetent bleeding idiot.

Calling Huckabee a total incompetent bleeding idiot, is completely baseless.

Fact of the matter is

Huckabee was considered the better Governor over Romney.
Huckabee was considered one of the top 5 Governors.
Huckabee lead the GOP Republican Governors for a few years.
Huckabee improved Arkansas, an extremely poor state, over his tenure
Huckabee balanced the budget while providing additional and better services.
Huckabee cut income taxes, increased certain taxes to pay for specific things.
Romney, cut taxes, but raised fees. Same damn thing. Romeny misleads people plain and simple over the records between him an Huckabee. The only one he's accurate on is Huckabee gave pardons and clemencies where as hes given none.

Huckabee is a former baptist minister. But he is also a Populist. Something that cannot be said for GWB. Huckabee is also not arrogant like Bush. Huckabee isnt going to be anymore "religious" than the other candidates. Hes going to oppose gay marriage and abortion just like the rest of them. Its been part of the GOP platform since 1976 thanks to Reagan and his group of Republicans that pushed for it in the last brokered GOP convention.

I hate to admit it, but my vibe machine, my inner feelings about people, make it such that if Huckabee wins the Republican nomination I will have no fear as to whether a Democrat or Republican wins. And an Obama Huckabee ticket would be just great.

The establishment would never allow such a ticket to exist.

Both parties prey on the partisanship and division in the country.

Yup, if you do not agree with 80% of either of two tenements you have virtually no chance of becoming president

I think he means seperate tickets their Pabster.

Hes basically saying, if Huckabee gets the Republican nod, hes not worried about Obama winning the Presidency.

I don't think so.

I suppose we might see some "dirty tricks" in some of the nastier places (e.g., SC), but I don't see any coordinated official Repub stuff.

If it were HRC, yeah. But not him.

No, I am saying that if Obama runs against Huckabee I will vote for Obama but I won't care if Huckabee wins because I think he will make a good President too. Further, I would see an Obama Pres and Huckabee VP as a great ticket that could help to unite the nation. I realize it isn't very likely.

Democrats are going to obliterate the R's in this election. Nobody even cares about the R nominees this year. It's all about the Dems.

If McCain or Huckabee get the nomination, Republicans wont lose to many House seats. Ive projected Repubs losing 15 seats in the House and 2-3 in the Senate. If McCain or Huckabee get the nod, I cann see the GOPs losses being less than that. If Romney or Giuliani got the nod, I see that number doubling.

/oh, not so long ago, those voters where asked: "How would you feel if you knew John McCain fathered a black child..."

Yeah, that was some nice push-polling by Rove. What a scumbag.

If he's nominee, of course I will vote for him and maybe give him some money as well. What else can I do, vote Republican? Hahaha, good one.
My strong preference is for Hillary, because she'll also piss off a lot of Republicans for 8 years. Plus I think she is the most pragmatic candidate running, and we need a sober, pragmatic look at the problems our country faces.

It's called Politics as usual. I hope you aren't naive enough to think Rove is the only strategist to ever use such tactics against an opponent.

Umm it was push-polling down by a well known SC operative. I've never seen anything reliable that indicate Rove had something to do with it. The SC guy is perfectly capable of doing that stuff all by himself. He's even been in trouble several times for local election shenanigans. I live near the border of SC and we hear about him.

Also, the push polling merely implied McCain had an illegitimate daughter of "color" (she's not African American, she's from Bangledesh). While I don't know exactly what was said (I wasn't push-polled) it doesn't sound from news reports down here it was a blatant as quoted above.

And the big $ lobby groups cover the spread, and their asses, on both sides of the fence.

Which to many in the South equals Black in their minds. The statement was just a spin on words though to point out that McCain was a "race mixer" hence the reference to the kid being a child of "Color". Sadly though McCain is a total sell out spaz who squandered his chance to stand out from the pack and define himself. As for the rest of the GOP line up there is no one there worth being truly excited about period. Most are Bush lite clones or wannabes.
