i tried calling dell; cause the s-video out on my laptop is dead.
basically i got this adapter that converts s-video into RCA. it works great on my desktop. i plugged it into my laptop, and under my intel extreme graphics option in the control panel, no tv is found. i've tried hitting fn+f8, doesn't work. i've tried numerous s-video cables, 3 tv's and VCR's too, laptop just doesn't "see" them.
called dell; they said that its probably the video card having issues. they're telling me to send in my computer.
now, i really can't do this. i use my laptop for work, i need it every day. i've had friends who've sent in their computers only to have it returned after like 2 weeks and the problem still there. i can't afford 2 weeks, not even 2 days without the computer... dell refuses to send me the part cause its not in my contract to allow me to open my own computer (even though i build computers!)
so i'm wondering if anyone has suggestions. is there some way i can buy the video card myself, and if yes from where? also, i'm guessing there is no option to upgrade the video card, right? like i can't fit a radeon mobility or something in the inspiron 1100 right?
