ANY light behind you will show up on the screen. Overhead is better but you'll still be able to see yourself on the screen. LOL!

To me this is EXTREMELY ANNOYING!

5400 rprm is fast enough in my opinion unless you're an extreme gamer or need the fastest start-up times around.....everything else is minimal and not worth the marked price premium on lappies.

Dell's HD's suck on the 9300....all 4200 rpm with the exception of the 7200 rpm 60 GB drive.......this was confirmed via telephone with Dell today.

BTW.....the Dell a/b/g card is $15 over the regular Dell b/g card on the Small Business website.

You will DEFINITELY see reflections if any lights hit the screen.

so are you in agreement with me about the warranty? $250+ for a 2 yr on site warranty, i can't justify that when it might not ever go bad. if my warranty runs out after a year and i need something replaced, how does dell go about that? i'm guessing they charge you a service fee?

I woouldn't buy an extended warranty. It's a rip-off! You're credit card will DOUBLE the warranty.

If anything electronic breaks, it'll happen sooner rather than later......I recommend immediately "burning in" the processor/HD on some CPU extensive task for 3+ days. Some people burn theirs longer than that. If it passes this test, your lappy shouldn't break down for something inane soon after the warranty expires.


Audiophiles do this with $1000+ amps/cdp's/dacs to make sure their components will last.

Dell is spotty enough with customer positive returns that you need to work the system a bit if you want to return a defective pixel laptop.

Overexaggeration of SEVERAL problems on the lappie is the best way to get Customer Service to replace one lappie with another at their expense. Stories abound about how people have done this.....I would suggest you post a new thread asking what's the best way to return such a lappie if you're in this boat in the future. The experts here will advise in MANY creative ways to confidently "work" the return. :thumbsup:

I got the 3yr more becuase of the accidental damage coverage. I'm probably going to be carrying it around a lot and I just feel better with the warranty. I was wondering, what if it gets stolen? Is that covered in any way? Just wondering...

this is a noob question but when they say the monthly payment thing, am i applying for a dell cc or what? i'm slightly confused on that(i'm 19 so i'm kinda new at this).

i thought i would just owe dell a monthly payment? i have good credit(have had a credit card since i was 16)
or do i have to have a credit card of my own?(i.e. visa, mastercard, etc.)?

how bad do you think the True Life reflection is? I REALLLLY want the 1920x1200 resolution, but you guys now have me worried about reflections. The high resolution is one of the main reasons im chosing the dell. I havent heard of anybody else complaining about the TrueLife except when used outdoors in direct sunlight, which I wont be...

It's financing through CIT Online Bank. It's just like a department store credit account (it's not an actual credit card, you just get a certain dollar amount of available credit with Dell that you can only use with Dell), and then you have the option of paying off however much you want per month (>= minimum payment, which is usually 3% of your total). Just like other retailers, Dell will charge quite a hefty interest rate unless you have excellent credit (topping out at 29.99% for their "least qualified customers").

You might want to also note that you must return your purchase/report missing or defective items within 21 days. After 21 days, you'll be sent a refurb if you want a replacement machine or you'll be sent refurbished replacement parts.

The policy with Dell for dead pixels is more then 5. if you have more then 5 dead pixels then that will warrent a LCD replacement. if your warrenty is return to depot, then you've got at least a week turnaround before you get it back.

Not sure how much help that is for you since I'm on the canadian side, but our policies are based upon the american too sometimes.

man.....looks like i won't be able to get it right now. i've been thinking about it and i really need to pay my CC off first before i jump into buying a laptop. god this is such a good deal, i wonder if dell will have as good as a deal as this again? 800+ worth of discounts... sigh. i only owe 500 on my CC but i really want to get in on this deal.
