Installing Arch on Thinkpad T430 and learning bash and zsh.

I've been thinking of installing Arch on my spare computer which is a Thinkpad T430 so I can learn Linux the harder way and gain experience in using the command line. I have been meaning to learn the CLI anyway, but always put it off due to fear of misusing the rm -r command.

I have no plans on distro hopping from Manjaro to Arch Linux as I have Manjaro right where I want it on my main system. But I did buy my notebook to check out other distros and OSes.

I was reading the Arch Wiki last night and quickly notice that zsh is the default shell instead of bash. How much better is zsh compared to bash? Anyway I'm going to learn both.

Speaking of learning a couple of shells, I found this video from Joe Collins:

Any pitfalls I should watch out for in installing Arch, such as using the WiFi for Internet access?

zsh is only the default on the installer iso.

Once you actually get the core installed [by following the wiki], bash will be your default. They are not all that different from each other when it comes to basic stuff.

My personal opinion would be to focus on bash, I anecdotally believe that is far more common than zsh in day-to-day use.

Well I hit small snags and the install media wouldn't boot. I tried both USB and DVD and neither worked. I end up messing with Manjaro-Architect and that does work. I'm going to install the base CLI and build the system up just like Arch.

Antergos might the way to go for something like that, since it's not a distro, but just an Arch installer.
