I just installed the 4.3 catalyst drivers for winME (driver #4.14.01.9138) for my 9500pro. Let me know if i installed these correctly, cause the install was a bit woggy.

I followed the instructions on ati's download page, first removing the ATI control panel then the drivers using add/remove programs. Then the system rebooted and came back running "standard vga" for display adapter (low res, 16color). I ran the catalyst driver .EXE. The install runs extracting the files from the .EXE to a new directory.

This is where it got weird. then a window pops up basically saying the drivers weren't windows certified (WHQL)and wouldn't be installed. From there i had two choices. the first was "OK" selecting this dropped me to the desktop without drivers being installed. The second was "advanced" which opened a new window giving me the option of ignoring that the drivers weren't WHQL and install anyhow.

So I installed the drivers this way and now i have two display adapters listed in system properties. The first is "RADEON 9500 Pro / 9700" and the second is "RADEON 9500 Pro / 9700 - Secondary". There are no exclamation warning markers and games seem to run fine.

Did i install these correctly ? They seem to be working but the step where i have to hit a "advanced" button was not listed in the install instructions and seems a bit odd.

Sounds like they did. The warning is due to them not being WHQL certified:Note: As of January 1, 2004, Microsoft no longer accepts certification submissions for the Microsoft® Windows® Millennium Edition operating system. ATI Technologies Inc. can no longer obtain WHQL certification for this operating system. For more information refer to the following Microsoft® website: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hwtest/search/details.aspx?ID=800

The secondary entry is for the Dual RAMDAC, and is normal.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Having to hit an "advanced" button to get to a second menu to install the drivers seemed weird. Guess that's what i get for using a O/S from the last century.
