just a quick question.. since my fan (mini copper orb) is coming with a thermal pad ont he bottom of it.. sould i still put some thermal paste on the cpu? thanks

Best bet is to take the "pad" off, should easily come off with rubbing alcohol and some paper towel, just dont use Kleenex tissue, as it is really linty in nature. Also maybe getting some 1500 or more grit sandpaper to "buff" the surface.

Get some decent thermal grease, i like the old Radio Shack stuff, but most of the people on here swear by Arctic Silver 2. I have done tests and shows the AS2 is over rated, especially for the price, but if you cant get the old Radio Shack stuff, get AS2 as it seems to be better than the new Radio Shack stuff.

It's best to get the thermal pad off. Alcohol or nail polish remover works great to get it off. Then put some AS2 on the CPU core.

WD40 will remove (I use a plastic putty knife as well) Use Alcohol to clean off the solvent and if you do "buff" it with wet/dry paper do it on a 1/4" or thicker piece of glass/mirror, or other very flat surface. Then apply Arctic Siver (II) sparingly and you're good to go
