Installing new mb......HELP Please !!!!

Every now and then I have to show everyone how dumb I am!! I am in the finishing stages of installing a new shuttle AK32E. I also decided to put in a new Hdrive and a fresh install of Win 2000. It booted to the W2K cd, did the format, but got to a point where it said it could not find or install a certain file. I did an "escape" the install when I meant to "skip" that file and worry about it later. But now it will not boot off the CD again. It will boot from the A drive. But without a disk in the A drive I get a message to the effect "NLTDR is missing....press ctrl Alt Del and try again". And it just keeps going thru that sequence. Doesnt matter if I change the boot sequence in the BIOS....will not go to the CDrom. I guess my question is what is the NLTDR ?? Any help greatly appreciated. THANKS!

NLTDR Information

Yes, you can change the boot order in the BIOS. For now, disable the floppy bootup and make it only CDROM until you get Win2K loaded up. Once Win2K copies the files to the harddisk and reboots for the first time, then you can enable the HDD to boot. (typical BIOS boot config will be floppy > CDROM > HDD0)

I would check your IDE connectors for a solid/firm connection. I've seen data get corrupted or mysterious files 'missing' on the CDROM because of a bad IDE cable. Also ensure that your CDROM is clean, too.

EDIT: Also check your RAM! I've seen bad sticks of RAM cause some pretty funky things. If you've used the RAM before in another system, then check to ensure it is seated properly. Go to http://www.memtest86.com/ and download the 3.0 ISO image for CDROM. If you're into fixing and building computers, this disc will save you a lot of time as booting the ISO image or running it from floppy can save you a lot of time when troubleshooting.
