Installing the MotherBoard

Should I bolt the motherboard to the standoffs as tite as I can? Or should I keep it a kind of "loose" conection? I have it installed already, and I did it with the screws titened, and the motherboard seems kind of uneven, like it's bending slightly in the middle.

Also, there are 8 holes, but the case manufacturer only gave me 6 standoffs and two more additional ones that look more like plugs than standoffs. Would I be okay if I only used 6 standoffs and left two holes empty? Does anyone know what the two ext "standoff" looking plug things would be?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You do not need to over-tighten the screws. Doing so might result in damaging the threads on one of the parts. Remember, these screws aren't going to unscrew themselves. So screwing it in just so that it makes contact with the motherboard is just fine.

You should only need four screws and theoretically you could do it with two. I wouldn't bother trying to fill up the holes. They're mostly there for compatibility and flexibility reasons.

Cool... Any suggestion as to witch holes I should use, if I'm going to only use four screws. For instance, should I focus on four around the outside of the motherboard? Should I put one in one of the two center holes?
It's a microATX board... if that helps.
Thanks again!

you need to use a screw driver you should screw it until it just keeps it there not tight but not loose in the middle if u go to tight can crack ur mobo if u go to loose ur mobo will be going all over the place when u move the screws are just there to keep it from moving around.

Yes, you should use the four around the ouside for the best stability with four screws.

Hand tight. Meaning once you encounter resistance, do one more complete turn then stop. Also always make sure you have the right threaded screws!!! Putting the wrong threaded screws in can strip the studs making removing them IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Is 4 screws how many you use with a microATX mobo when mounting it? Maybe I'm just used to my EATX board, but that sounds scary. I think I use about 12 when mounting mine.

i make sure every hole is filled on the mobo.... not only for grounding reasons but also for stability. I have a really freaking heavy heatsink and i dont like feeling my mobo flex when I put in RAM or a vid card....
