Installing Win2k and ata100

I remember reading somewhere on the forum about there being a problem installing win2k if you have ata100 enabled. I receive an error message whenever I try to install win2k. I can't remember the exact message but it has something to do with ata100 or the device not found. If someone could just let me know what I have to do, I would appreciate it. Sorry this message is so vague but I am writing this from work and don't have the exact error in front of me.

Is it a built in ata/100 card or a pci card? I am using a PCI ata/100 card with W2K with no problems...

from everything that I have seen, win2k doesn't fully support ata100, I have an athlon board with the 686B south brige, but my machine is using ata66 and it works fine, basicly unless you have some unreleased 15,000 rpm IDE drive you arent going to notice any difference between the two settings. Hope that helps.

yea... as far as i know, w2k doesn't support ata 100. if you want 100, go with win98 or XP when it comes out.

I beleive there was a hotfix I heard about for win 2k and ATA-100 devices, but I don't know where it is. The best thing to do is to head to windows update with your computer that has the ata100 drive and see if it pops up.
