installing windows xp via USB

i just bought an eee pc and i want to do a fresh install of windows when i get it.

i know how to install linux via usb (just use the bootable usb drive that you can create with the live cd right?)

I dont know how to put an .iso on a usb to make it bootable though.

I have an image of the disk on my computer already i just need to know how to make it bootable.

theres gotta be a way to just put the .iso on a flash drive and install it just like you were installing from a cd right?

every guide ive seen has people doing so many steps just to accomplish it.

Also, ive seen vista installed this way so its gotta be the same for xp right?

I don't know, I've never tried. I'm guessing if it was as easy as copying a .iso to a thumb drive, that's what people would do.

Not really. Booting a CD uses a special kind of hack that isn't required for booting from a regular hard disk, USB or not.
