I use AIM to message and chat and ICQ to do file transfers (and msg if someone isn't online and it's urgent).

you don't have to click the send button on ICQ.....when you are finished typing what you want to say just hit TAB then hit the SPACEBAR.

I use AIM for talking with my friends that have aol(poor souls) & ICQ for the rest, but I actually like AIM better. ICQ turns what should be a simple app into a bloated resource hog.

ICQ for me. Does everything I want it to do, and when you turn of some of the plugins it has it`s memory usage isn`t that high too (it`s still too high IMHO).

Besides, anyone I know is using ICQ, and I think the most important part about an IM program is that you`ve got other people to IM with.

AIM is just faster and easier to use. ICQ is just a pain sometimes...

Although I've noticed in college more people use ICQ...

The only thing ICQ is good for is transferring files.

Earlier I used to use ICQ but now I have stopped using it because it slows down my system drastically.....I tried aol im for some time and didn't find it very interesting.....now I am using MSN messenger 3.0 which has chat and voice talk features......

Who cares who 'owns' ICQ, it is still the SAME THING!... ICQ just kicks ass. Sure it is a bloat, but I run it on my P83 (ICQ99b) and I'm not complaining, so nobody here has the right to complain

AIM is the ugliest IM program I have ever seen.. yahoo being next ugliest. MSN Messenger and ICQ both are good quality and have nice interfaces - but I prefer ICQ for the functionality, convenience and features/options.. just so much more it can do, and it doesn't bloat itself into OE.

I like AIM better as well. I simply hate people that randomly message me on ICQ and spam me and when i log on, there are all these numbers with messages for lord knows what. AIM is simple and straight to the point.
