OMG this is so good
View attachment 34470

Basic butter flour mix to thicken, some black pepper, mushrooms and more powdered garlic.
I am so looking forward to having this with some mashed potatoes tonight.
Wish I made more of it
I have made stuff like that, too.

It is fun to just freestyle a recipe. Sometimes they suck but mostly they rock.

I love making beef stew in mine as well as making baked beans.

I'm doing a 7lb turkey breast in my ninja foodi. Brined overnight. 16 minutes under pressure and then coated in butter and seasoned. Flip down the air fryer lid and 10 minutes later amazing turkey goodness.

I have all the gadgets but all that one really needs is.... a gas or electric range with gas or electric burners, a microwave, and that's it. All of those other cooking gadgets can't replace the good old reliables for cooking and they only take up a lot of counter space.

You don't NEED a microwave either.
Some of us have plenty of cupboard and/or counter space for appliances to make our lives easier.

Now, I'm going to need you to tell me where you work so I can come down there and knock dicks out of your mouth... coming into the "Instant Pot owners thread" and shitting on the Instant Pot

I call mine the Magic Soup Machine. Pushbutton soups, stews, bisques, chilis, broths, stocks, etc. I actually just bought another pack of Souper Cubes to speed up the storage process haha:

Soup bricks are BRILLIANT:

That is the coolest gadget you have posted in a good while. I think I must have this.

You also need a stick blender, but try to get at least medium duty ones. Those slick looking ones with led on them come with very little continues run time.

As I said earlier hopefully Santa brings me these.
We just picked up some silicon ice cube trays to replace our crappy plastic ones. They are awesome, ice cubes plop right out of them. Rigid enough that nothing spills.

Oh. You said favorite. I honestly think food turns out better in a slow cooker. I love the convenience. It opens up the variety of things I can cook after work. Turkey breast is actually amazing though. I would suggest if you try it.

I have been using immersion blenders for decades. The present one is corded, but I will consider rechargeable when this one dies.

And here is my instant pot experience, since some comments here seem negative about it.

It is also a slow cooker, so I gave the slow cooker to charity. It saves time and effort by letting you sauté, seer, and braise in the same pot, instead of needing to do it and transfer the way a slow cooker does. Which means less pots and pans to wash. Obviously it does what the slow cooker does but far faster.

it's a pressure cooker, which is not the same as a slow cooker. I have a slow cooker taking up cupboard space. should probably move it to basement.

Mine has a slow cooker mode.
so does mine, however I think the point is its a pressure cooker that can act as a slow cooker.
Also I totally get why someone doesn't see value in the Instant Pot and doesn't want counter clutter. As I have said yes you can do other things in it but it is mostly good for heavy manly meals like stews. If you don't like heavy manly meals it doesn't have much value.

I disagree. I use it for foods like sweet potatoes, spaghetti squash, and chicken breast for chicken salad all the time. Once you have nailed the cook times, it is fast and time saving on the clean up end of things.

Made some chicken risotto, I’m pretty happy with the result.
I recommend seasoning the chicken but here is the recipe. Chicken is sort of bland without seasoning.

I cooked the mushrooms down a bit before adding them

@Kaido thank you for suggesting those cubes. I got some for Xmas, they are super (souper?) awesome. Nice stackable cubes, I use them frequently.

Awesome! I've found many uses for them. Among other things:

1. Soups
2. Stews
3. Chilis
4. Bisques
5. Brown butter cubes (I use brown butter a lot...pasta, cookies, brownies, etc.)
6. Brown bananas (because I always say I'm going to make banana bread but never seem to have time for it once the bananas are ripe lol...this lets me make cubes I can just defrost as needed & are already ripened!)

I just got their new mini-cubes:

I've been using these for cloning Bertolli's frozen skillet pasta meals. They have a TON of flavors...basically you just stick it in a skillet for like ten minutes & voila, dinner! Downside is they're like ten bucks each and while one bag is advertised to hold two meals, it's really just one big meal for an adult male lol:

The thing I've been missing for DIY is their little cubes. I've played with silicone ice cube trays, but the Souper Cube versions are much nicer because they have the metal ring around the lip, which makes it easier to pop them out, plus a lid for the freezer. So you mix your cheese, sauce, herbs, etc. into the cubes, throw in the pasta, and then cook your chicken (skillet/instapot/sous-vide), then freeze it all together in a bag, and now you have your own super-budget meal kit that you can simply pull out from the freezer & easily cook! Next step is to convert those freezer meals to the IP or APO (not sure if it'd have the same effect or not as the skillet, gonna have to try it out!). This project should keep me busy for a few months lol...I've dabbled with it over the years, but now that I have the tiny cube mold, I can really go through & start making some seriously awesome quick "dump & fry" skillet dinner bags!

40 Clove Chicken.
Real good, tastes more like roasted garlic when complete.
The wine made a fabulous sauce.
I added more cream because my broth was dark and I didn’t like the color.
I used bone less skinless chicken because that is what I had. I don’t like bones in my food but I can see how a skin on the chicken that is throughly browned would be a nice addition
I also added mushrooms because it looked like something that should have mushroom.

I had it with mashed potatoes and it was good. I think it would be great with pasta.

Creamy garlicky sauce, you can't go wrong. Adding the mushrooms was perfect. Definitely going to bookmark this!

The slow cooker mode on mine sucks, more like a keep warm on a Crock-Pot than a high on a Crock-Pot.
