Why do some people use ` instead of ' ? For example, they would say It`s instead of It's. They`re instead of They're.

It seems to be used mostly by British people, though I notice it creeping through to some friends in Canada. Is it some language/keyboard setting, or are these people just tools?

It's called a prime and it should not be used in place of a proper '. It's for fucking equations.

I have no idea about the British, but when dealing with English that has typed on machines set up for Asian text some of the punctuation and special characters don't come out right, especially when cutting and pasting. That's usually when I have that problem with apostrophes.

I've noticed Nigerian scammers like to skip putting a space after a period or a comma.Like this,except they usually have many spelling errors and randomly capitalized words as well. Or sometimes ,they put a space before the comma but not after.

I proofread for a living and almost no one screws up spaces after a comma. It seems almost exclusive to scammers.
